Creedence Clearwater Revival "Royal Albert Hall Concert" 1980 LP, Rare Misprint

The seller is the original owner, and received this album from the label at the time of its initial release, before the misprint was discovered.

The album is still sealed in its original shrink wrap. The vinyl disc has never been taken from its sleeve and has never been played. It is assumed to be in Mint condition.  The cover is in excellent condition.  It has two hype stickers on the front cover.  Please zoom in on the provided photos to see the overall condition of this item.

(Wikipedia Excerpts)  Released as "The Royal Albert Hall Concert", it was later discovered it was actually a performance given at the Oakland Coliseum in California in January 1970. Once the mistake was discovered, remaining inventory of this record were labeled with a "WE GOOFED!" hype sticker on the shrink wrap. Subsequent reissues of this concert are simply titled "The Concert" and have a different cover. A Cash Box magazine news article dated January 31, 1981, provides a summary of the mistake:

"EMBARRASSED ON THE BAYOU — Oops, that smokin' Creedence Clearwater Revival album, "The Royal Albert Hall Concert", was not recorded at the famous London venue after all. In one of the greatest labeling faux pas in recent memory, Fantasy has now discovered that it had inadequately marked a master tape and the contents on the brilliant $5.98 live LP have been traced to a January 1970 CCR concert recorded at the Oakland Coliseum. Fantasy is now in the process of correcting album covers and labels for future pressings; meanwhile, interim copies will carry an explanatory sticker. When the new covers are ready, the album title will read "Creedence Clearwater Revival; The Concert". Those who have helped propel the bogus “Royal Albert Hall Concert" to #120 bullet on the Cash Box LP chart have a collector's item on their hands. Hats off to the Berkeley-based label for admitting the error."

The Seller was in the retail record business in the 1970's-1980's and acquired a collection of 2500+ albums from that era, which is now being sold on Ebay. Most are promotional and collectible LPs which have never (or seldom) been played. Many are white label promos, first pressings, and often factory sealed. The collection has been securely boxed and stored in a smoke free environment since 1983, 39 years!  Please check back occasionally to see my new listings. I add approx. 25–50 new LPs per week.

Grading methodology is as follows:

M (MINT) - Album is brand new, sealed, and has never been played.

NM (NEAR MINT) - Vinyl looks as if you just got it home from a new record store and removed the shrink wrap. LP cover may have some light rub marks.

VG+ (VERY GOOD PLUS) - Vinyl may show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Sleeves will have some slight wear, lightly turned corners, or a slight seam split. May have slight signs of wear also may be marred by a cut out hole, sawcut, or cut corner indicating it is a promotional copy.

VG (VERY GOOD) - Vinyl has light wear, scratches, or scuffs. Covers may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached, etc.
