Description

This is part of a big auction full of rockabilly record from Checker, Decca, Imperial and several very small label.  Great stuff that doesn't come up for sale often.  Many of these are promos or have original sleeves and almost all all are in great shape.

Release: Eddie Cochran - Skinny Jim / Half Loved


Format: 45 rpm 7" single


Year: 1956


Notes: Hard to find first release by Cochran on the very small Crest label out of LA. Cochran was rumored to be a direct influence on the Beatles and Stones' early work and you can hear it here.  The vocals and guitar on Skinny Jim sound like they are straight from the Cavern Club. B-side leans more towards R&B.  Great stuff on both sides, an absolute must hear. 

 

Vinyl Condition: VG+, vinyl is in great shape with just a few scattered surface marks. Nothing deep, nothing feelable and frankly you have to look in angled light to see anything. Very clean. Sounds great with no skips/ticks/bumps, plays with hardly any background noise at all.  Label is super-clean with no marks/tears/stickers, just some very minor scuffing.  This is an overall nice copy.
