Original Year of Release: 29th May 1969 Rarity: Very Rare as this is an Atlantic Red and Plum UK 1st Pressing from one of the Best ever 60's Bands.This Label had an Incredibly brief run before Switching to the more common Green and Orange Label. This is Also the Original 1969 UK 1st Press Unlaminated Textured Sleeve printed and made by E.J Day. This Also has the Very Rare impossibly Difficult to find Lyric Insert (these are almost Always missing). It also has Not Only that but this is All in overall Superb condition and has Hardly been Handled or Played.Track list:

Brief Artist & Album Info: "Crosby, Stills & Nash" is the first album by Crosby, Stills & Nash, released in 1969 on the Atlantic Records label. It spawned two Top 40 hit singles, "Marrakesh Express" and "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes," which peaked respectively at Number 28 the week of August 23, 1969, and at Number 21 the week of December 6, 1969, on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. The album itself peaked at Number 6 on the Billboard Top Pop Albums chart. It was certified four times platinum by the RIAA for sales of over 4,200,000.
The album was a very strong debut for the band, instantly lifting them to stardom. Along with the Byrds' Sweetheart of the Rodeo and The Band's Music from Big Pink of the previous year, it helped initiate a sea change in popular music away from the ruling late sixties aesthetic of bands playing blues-based rock music on loud guitars. Crosby, Stills & Nash presented a new wrinkle in building upon rock's roots, utilizing folk, blues, and even jazz without specifically sounding like mere duplication. Not only blending voices, the three meshed their differing strengths, David Crosby for social commentary and atmospheric mood pieces, Stephen Stills for his diverse musical skills and for folding folk and country elements subtly into complex rock structures, and Graham Nash for his radio-friendly pop melodies, to create an amalgam of broad appeal. The album features some of their best known songs: "Helplessly Hoping", "Long Time Gone" (a response to the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy), "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes" (composed for Judy Collins) and "Wooden Ships" (co-written with Paul Kantner of Jefferson Airplane).
Stills dominated the recording of the album. Apart from drums, handled by Dallas Taylor, he played nearly all of the instruments on the album. Nash played acoustic guitar on two tracks and Crosby rhythm guitar on a few. Stills played all the bass, organ, and lead guitar parts, as well as acoustic guitar on his own songs. "The other guys won't be offended when I say that one was my baby, and I kind of had the tracks in my head," Stills said.
David Crosby bristled over the plan for "Long Time Gone" as he thought he should at least play rhythm guitar on his own song. Stills convinced him to go home for a while and when he returned Crosby was won over by the music track that Stills and Taylor had recorded. In a more recent interview, Crosby contradicted his earlier statement, stating that he had played guitar on the track.
CONDITION
Labels: The Red and Plum Atlantic Labels are are both in Beautiful condition with No real signs of age.. There are some Very light signs of Spider Marks and Spindle Wear visible. There is no Writing, Stickers, Rips, Tears or Label Lifts anywhere. all of these suggests that this has Barely been played over the years. AWESOME for a 49 Year Old record. Both Labels Must grade overall as at least Very Good ++/Excellent!!!!
Vinyl: Plays throughout absolutely Superb with no Pops, Clicks or Jumps. The record still Retains that glossy sheen though there are a couple of surface marks and thumbnails to be seen, these in NO way interfere with the superb sound quality. This Album plays up to and beyond its high visual grading with hardly anything of note to fault. It offers strong, distortion-free sound, all frequencies are sharp and clear – sound quality is very high with a wide dynamic range and very detailed sound. A typical polished production from Graham Nash. Minimal surface sound and no tracking issues. This play-grade proved a real pleasure when playing this fast disappearing album, this being the first example I have had for some time, and possibly the best all-round one for me yet. It will prove quite difficult to find a significantly better copy and merits a very strong recommendation. I would grade both sides as Very Good ++/Excellent -!!!!
Cover: This is an Original 1970 UK 1st Press Unlaminated textured "E.J Day" Gatefold Cover complete with it's Original unsplit Inner and Lyric Insert. This Cover is in overall Fantastic condition with only the Vaguest signs of light handling to show of it’s Five Decades. It's nigh on IMPOSSIBLE to find this Cover in Anything approaching Good Condition as most are Spent, Torn and Worn due to the age and nature of these Fragile Sleeves!!! There are no Tears, Splits, Dulling, Ringwear or Marks anywhere. It is still Very strong and solid after all these years!!! This Cover only has a Small amount of Very light signs of ageing such as just a touch of Whitening to rare parts of the seams from where it has Sat on the Shelf over the years (truly minimal with absolutely no Splits whatsoever), a slight touch of Denting to the four Corners which virtually Every vintage Cover has), and Possibly (just to be sure!!!) one or two other Minor signs of Age here and there, though Nothing that really stands out to note at all. This is an Outstanding Sleeve, and a TRUE rarity to find one as incredible as this as most have been virtually Destroyed or are just about being Held together, but Not this one!!! It Remains very Strong, Solid, Unsplit and Unspoilt. Even the Spine remains Very good and is Strong, Solid, Unsplit, and 100% Readable. This Cover is Incredibly difficult to find in Excellent or Better condition simply because of it's design and age. However I would be happy enough to grade this as Excellent!!!!
Cover Summary: Not seen often. This one is in Beautiful condition. This classic cover (As Described) should please Many collectors.
Lyric Insert: This Elusive Lyric Insert is in Fantastic order with no Writing, Splits, Tears or Marks anywhere. The printing inside is Perfect and Unfaded. Considering it's Flimsy design and Age it has done Remarkably well to Still be around today and especially so in this condition. I will grade this as Very Good ++/Excellent -!!!!

Album Played For Grading: I play/grade ALL records I offer before submitting, I also play them in their entirety unless clearly stated otherwise. I do NOT play snippets or joining grooves to check for sound quality and quietness I play from the beginning to end. I use a Linn LP12 Sondek turntable with Ittok Mk II arm and Ortofon Quintet Black moving coil cartridge and Linn Lingo, with my Linn system and Forest Totem Speakers. This system is guaranteed to pick up any distortion or interference within the sound.
Grading: In my opinion I REFUSE to believe that there is ANY record that can be truly graded as Mint, the BEST that could be offered is Mint- (minus)!!!! Especially so from the 50's, 60's, 70's or up to the present date!!!! Even copies bought new today would have some form of imperfection on the Record or Cover!!!! Under that assumption I will NEVER use the word Mint in any of my descriptions and Mint- is the HIGHEST grade I would ever use. So I will only offer Excellent, Good or Poor with a -(minus), +(plus) or ++(plus,plus)!!!!
