Description
This is a very nice copy of Classic Records reissue of Crosby, Stills & Nash’s debut album on four single-sided 200g 45 rpm records. The 45 RPM set is a complete recording Atlantic SD-8229-45. When I first bought this new, the records were cleaned with a VPI record cleaner and treated with LAST record preservative. More recently it was recleaned with Audio Intelligent Fluids on a VPI cleaner and on an Audio Desk ultra sonic record cleaner. It has also been demagnetized with a Furutech DeMag. There is one small (~2 mm) light scratch on side 2 about 1/3 of the way through “Guinnevere” and 2 small light scratches (~1 mm each) on side 4 on “49 Bye-Byes”. Side 1 plays very quietly with no noticeable surface noise. Side 2 has some streaks in the vinyl with a few light ticks during the guitar intro to “Guinnevere” with approximately 13 light ticks in the area of the scratch and a few occasional light ticks through the end of the track. The other two tracks on this side play mostly very quietly. Side 3 is mostly very quiet with only 3-4 light ticks over the entire side. Side 4 has some occasional light ticks over the side but is otherwise quiet with 5 light ticks noticed at the beginning of the side. I have only played the records a few times on various VPI tables I have owned (HW-19 MKIV, TNT 3.5, and Classic 4) using either Lyra or Benz Mico Ruby cartridges. The sound is naturally open and detailed. The covers for record 1 is a gatefold jacket with a sticker on the front cover for listing the songs. The other three records have plain white jackets with the stickers listing the songs. Classic Records did not include the lyric sheet with this 200g 45 issue. There no seam splits or tears or bends in the jackets. Only side A of each LP is pressed. Side B is blank. Multiple records can be combined in an order to save shipping costs.
