Description
Hello, I am a long time seller and buyer on eBay (since October 1999) with a 100% positive feedback record, so bid and buy with confidence. I have recently decided to start selling my personal collection of classic rock records (era approximately 1964 to 1974). My grading is conservative because I do want the buyer to be disappointed with their purchase. I grade the vinyl both by playing it and by close visual inspection. Similarly, I grade the cover, inserts and label by close, critical inspection. I have been selling other items I collect the last couple of years but have now decided to switch selling my record collection. So, please keep checking back as I intend to add more rare classic rock albums in the near future.
For sale today is Crosby, Stills, & Nash's first album issued in the extremely rare mono, white label, format formulated for play on AM radio and released. Unfortunately, while rare, this particular album has not been well-treated over its life. The vinyl has several pops and clicks, and most concerning, some areas where it skips too. I do know that when I first purchased this album many years ago, it played through without skips, so perhaps the skips are caused by dirt or debris in the grooves; but I cannot guarantee that it will play through without skipping even with a good cleaning. Mainly because of the skipping on certain songs, to be conservative, I am grading the vinyl as Poor. On the good side, the vinyl lies flat, with no warpage, and has no sticks.
The special promotional white labels also have issues. A prior owner apparently tried to erase some mark on Side One and a radio station placed its stamp on both the Side One and Side Two labels. See photos.
I rate the cover as Near Mint. It is in fantastic shape except for it does not have the typical colored round sticker indicating that it contains a promotional record.
This album does not come with an original inner sleeve (not sure it was even issued with one being it was a promotional item). But, as with all of my records, I have stored the vinyl in an archival inner sleeve and also placed the vinyl in a separate sturdy hard-cover outer sleeve. This preserves both the vinyl as well as protects the original cover from wear and tear caused by having to store the vinyl record.
Important Note: unlike the other 99% of records in my collection, because of the pops, clicks and the aforementioned skips, I view this record as mainly a filler for the avid collector to own until a better copy comes along. As such, I do NOT offer a return policy for this record. I am selling it "as is." Thanks for looking.
