Geschichte von Cult Hero

Die Single wurde von Robert Smith (Sänger und Gitarrist von The Cure) und Simon Gallup (damals Bassist von The Magspies) als eine Art Test aufgenommen, ob sie musikalisch miteinander kompatibel waren. Smith zog Gallup als Ersatz für Michael Dempsey (den damaligen Bassisten von The Cure) in Betracht, da Smith und er sowohl persönliche als auch Differenzen im Bezug auf die Band hatten.

Die Stücke wurden für den ortsansässigen Briefträger von Horley, Frank Bell, geschrieben und auch von ihm gesungen. Außerdem ist er auch auf dem Cover der Single abgebildet. Des Weiteren wirkten auch der Ex-Cure-Gitarrist Porl Thompson, der Keyboarder von The Magspies, Matthieu Hartley, sowie weitere Freunde, Familienangehörige der beiden Initiatoren und Mitglieder der ortsansässigen Band The Obtainers mit. History of Cult Hero

The single was recorded by Robert Smith (vocalist and guitarist of The Cure) and Simon Gallup (then bassist of The Magspies) as a kind of test to see if they were musically compatible. Smith considered Gallup as a replacement for Michael Dempsey (then bassist of The Cure) because Smith and he had both personal and band differences.

The tracks were written for and sung by Horley's local letter carrier, Frank Bell. He is also featured on the cover of the single. Furthermore, the ex-cure guitarist Porl Thompson, the keyboarder of The Magspies, Matthieu Hartley, as well as other friends, family members of the two initiators and members of the local band The Obtainers also participated. EX > EXZELLENT : Die Platte zeigt nur minimale Abspielspuren und Abstriche an der Klangqualität sind sehr gering. Ähnliches gilt für das Cover.

VG > VERY GOOD : Man sieht der Platte an, daß sie des öfteren abgespielt worden ist; leichte Kratzer und Gebrauchsspuren sind vorhanden. Die Klangqualität ist jedoch noch gut. Das Cover hat Gebrauchsspuren, jedoch keine größeren Schäden.

EX > EXCELLENT : The record shows few signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VG > VERY GOOD : The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

G > GOOD : We do not to sell records that are in less than very good condition, unless they are extremely rare. Please see our individual description for these items.
