DAFOS Mickey Hart + Airto Moreira + Flora Purim - 45 RPM - Reference Recordings RR-12
Under normal lighting (bright light or sun streaming through a window) record appears to be in excellent condition; a few very fine scratches on side A or B. Using a 300 watt incandescent spot light located a few feet away, lots of surface scratches on both sides of record are clearly visible , with side A slightly worse (see photo). Playback is very quiet: no surface noise but some light pops during lead-in and lead-out (using SME IV, Shure M97xE, and solid base turntable). Also, there is slight wrap to the record. Wrap is very obvious looking a the tonearm while tracking the outer track of side 1; barely noticeable on side 2 or on the inner tacks on both sides. If record is played at 33RPM, the wrap is completely unnoticeable (looking at tonearm when on outer track of side 1); I have played 33RPM records with 2 to 3 mm humps and tonearm jumps around a lot less on these records than on the tiny hump on this record. My best estimate is that wrap is less than 1mm high at the peak. Hump also seems to be very narrow which likely exacerbates the the problem.
Front, back, and inside surfaces of gatefold jacket are in excellent condition (see photos). Only wear is on the edges of cover, especially on fold, bottom edge and inside edge.
Disc picture is purposely overexposed in order to emphasize the scratches. Notice the large amount of scratches on the lead-out section, but the relatively clean record surface. As mentioned earlier, these are surface scratches and cannot be heard. Please note that overexposing the photo not only emphasizes the scratches but also the dust particles. I would get surface perfectly clean with the VPI record cleaning machine, but in the time it took me to try to get the picture, surface would often get quite dusty.
