Original US 1st pressing on the TAY-STER label (TS0003), from circa 1970. Killer Detroit funk grail on the sister label of Jack Taylor's Rojac Records. Arguably, the 2 hottest themes from the legendary Lp on this desirable 7-inch. GIVE ME ANOTHER JOINT is the aggressive funk side featuring Tolbert's raw vocals over punishing rhythms ;) Hashish junkie related lyrics / blasting horn section / hard congas and shakers / insanely good bassline / heavy drums / hammond and chicken scratch guitars. Non-stop B-boy breaks all the way to the fade. The DAMN SAM THE MIRACLE MAN side is also superb. Less frantic and more soulful with tons more infectious riffs / preaching vocals and funky breakdowns. Funky, spiritual jazz style horn solo midway through this theme too. Great for DJs. Our soundclip opens with GIVE ME ANOTHER JOINT followed by the DAMN SAM THE MIRACLE MAN side. This is the the original issue in flat edged styrene. Near impossible to find in top condition. Booming production. Seldom comes up for sale. Very rare 45!!!
Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG
Flat edged styrene record is in strong VG++ condition (closer to M- overall) regardless of the mini audible 'swoosh' to intro of the "Give Me Another Joint" side. Just a few very faint hairline scuffs from storage and one, mini pressing anomaly (like a flattened pressing bubble) in the outer deadwax area only of "Damn Sam.." side that does not affect play in any way. Light, natural surface noises (to be expected for the 1st press styrene issue) but sounds and looks superb overall with booming production too. Record housed in plain white card sleeve with poly lined inner. Very rare 45!!!
