"Artist profile:

Jesus music pioneer Danny Taylor was born in Bremerton, Washington and began playing guitar at the age of six. In the fifth grade he became interested in the drums and joined the school band and by the time he was 14 he was playing drums professionally. In the spring of 1969 Danny began a full time music ministry. Taylor was part of the Love Inn Community in New York together with such figures as Phil Keaggy, Lynn Nicholls and Scott& Nedra Ross and he worked with Pat Robinson in the early days of his Christian Broadcasting Network. Taylor's first album was the independent project 'Taylor Made'. He then recorded a single for Metromedia Records. In 1972 he sang at the first Jesus Joy concert at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Tempo Records released 'Danny Taylor Live At Carnegie Hall'. Danny also appeared at Madison Square Garden, Carnegie Hall and Jesus '73.

In 1976 Taylor recorded what the Encyclopedia Of Christian Music called his "master work", 'A Time For Love', a collection of Christian-based romantic love songs. In the autumn of 1977 Danny signed with Gary Paxton's Newpax Records and recorded a double album live in concert at Kansas City, 'I'm Not A One-Man Show'. Taylor also recorded as part of the Matthews, Taylor And Johnson trio.

Album review:

'I'm Not A One Man Show' is another live set, this time with a small band that includes Danny's wife on backing vocals. Other participants are Chu Nero (piano, sax, guitar), Dennis Rogers (drums), Chad Watson (bass) and Rick Schupp (percussion). It's a simple and fun Jesus music concert (a double album) of nineteen songs, only a couple of which appear on Taylor's prior recordings. Quite a variety of styles, including folk, rock, country, gospel, jazz, Caribbean, a cappella, ragtime, boogie, blues, you name it. Some memorable titles like 'Snatchin' All The Children From The Pits Of Hell', 'Boogie Woogie Preacher Man From New Orleans', 'Hey Mon' and 'The Jesus Gonna Love Ya Rag'. The spoken portions between the songs help to personalize the performance. The event took place at Community Christian Church in Kansas City, Missouri on December 16, 1977. Grading Scale:

10: Mint (M) Perfect record, clean gloss, no marks, beautiful in every way. VERY VERY few records will make mint.

9: Mint- (M-/NM) Opened but played only a few times at most (IF ANY) - cover has VERY minor wear (IF ANY) no rips,no ringwear,no ink.

8: Excellent (VG++/EX++) Minor wear or light paper marks on vinyl (SOUNDS GREAT) - cover A REAL CLEAN COPY, minor ring wear, seam wear shelf wear or corner damage.

7: Very Good+ (VG+) Seam wear, rubbing on cover, ring wear, corner damage or possible minor splits (if there are any splits I will note them in the grading). Vinyl may have minor background noise, occasional tic. Still a GREAT listening copy.

6: (VG) Cover will have noticeable damage or flaws, possible seam splits. Vinyl will have some noise, tics but won't overpower the sound. AN AVERAGE USED COPY

5: (VG-) Vinyl or Cover will be quite worn, lots of background noise etc. I usually won't list Vinyl in this condition unless they are quite rare to find.

4: G Plays very rough. Has multiple scratches. What a bargain!!

3-2-1: It only goes down from here.
