Description
Dante And The Evergreens, self-titled, Madison 1002. Year of release is 1961. This is an absolutely sensational copy of this very, very rare record. I have only seen or heard of one other copy in my life! The jacket is in beautiful VG++ condition. The glossy front cover is absolutely outrageous. Anyone familiar with Santa Monica, California has probably stood where Dante And The Evergreens are shown standing. If you guessed that they are on Ocean Avenue with the Pacific Ocean as a backdrop, you are absolutely correct! The front cover is completely unblemished with no surface wear, wrinkles, or spots. In fact, it could pass for having been made yesterday. There is a very slight crunch or squish in the lower left corner. See the image below. This flaw looks no worse than what you can see in the image! This is all that prevents the front cover from being perfect. The back cover gets the VG++ grade only because of some very mild, light surface wear that is for the most part visible only if the back cover is tilted at the proper angle. You can get an idea of the extent of the cover's surface wear by viewing the thick black horizontal bar in the image below. The barely noticeable white spots are about as serious as the wear gets. There is other very minor surface wear in the white background areas that is comparable and nearly undetectable. The original whiteness of the back cover has almost entirely been retained. There is a small spot in the upper left corner where the protective slick coated cover has lost its thin outer coat. This likely occurred from some adherent moisture, although there are no stains present. It is as if the small effected area were covered by paper having a less glossy finish. The spine and other edges are all sharp, glossy, and like new. There is also a machine or rubber stamped number "1550" that appears above and to the left of the group's name (See image below). The jacket is not pristine perfect, but it is very close to it. The record visually and play grades in near mint condition. All the original luster has been retained. There is some very slight surface noise that is occasionally detectable, but I suspect that this is a result of the Madison label's sonic limitations. Nevertheless, the record is a beautiful thick, heavy, nice, chunky, shiny piece of vinyl! Not only is this record cosmetically beautiful, but there is some fantastic Doowop on it! Tracks include Alley-Oop, Dream Lover, Let The Good Times Roll, Glory Of Love, Da Doo, Hush-A-Bye, Time Machine, Venus, The Right Time, Blue Moon, Think Sweet Thoughts, and Dreamland. Dante And The Evergreens' version of Alley Oop charted in addition (Billboard peak position of #15) to that of the Hollywood Argyles. Personnel includes Donald Drowty (Dante) as lead singer, Bill Young, future record producer Tony Moon, and future Beverly Hills lawyer Frank D. Rosenthal. This is a monster LP. Don't let it pass you by! The record was play graded on an audiophile system employing Basis Ovation, Graham Industries, Transfiguration, Sound Applications, and Jeff Rowland electronics. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------PLEASE VIEW AND READ FEEDBACK COMMENTS ON MY GRADING! Satisfaction is guaranteed on a money back basis with postage BOTH ways. I have never had a negative feedback or unresolved complaint, and I have had only one returned item from all eBay transactions. Domestic buyer assumes responsibility for $8.00 charge for insured media mail with a delivery confirmation. Double boxing is recommended for this prize. Double boxing consists of placing a regular size record mailer with the LP inside into a medium size (pizza type box) mailer, the kind used for shipping multiple LP's of quantities ranging from four to twelve. Any LP jacket mailed with a standard record mailer that is dropped directly on its corner from a height of four feet or more will sustain a crunched corner. The use of double boxing greatly minimizes this possibility. The additional cost for double boxing is $5, which is the actual cost to me. The cost is increased due to the additional cost of another even heavier box, plus the increased shipping charges due to the additional weight. Insurance and delivery confirmations are required for all domestic shipments. Payments made with these charges subtracted will not be accepted. Only professional packaging materials are used for shipping, and all items are shipped securely and with filler pads (More are used with double boxing); yet, you will not risk damage to the contents because the packaging is too difficult to undo. My packages are easy to open once you start the process, and you will not need a butcher knife or terrorist box cutter to do it with! Virtually all online payment services are available. Due to increases in fraudulent PayPal transactions and resultant chargebacks, items paid for through PayPal will be shipped to confirmed addresses only. I generally always ship on the date I receive cleared funds or within one day thereafter. Personal checks require a hold of ten business days for clearance. All domestic sales must be paid for within seven days of an auction's end. If you do not pay online, and your mail service as a sender is slow, don't bother bidding!---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------FOR BIDDERS OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES: Uninsured Airmail Letter Post is used for international shipping due to its popularity. Rates are as follows: Canada $8.00; Mexico $10.00; Europe $15.00; Asia, Australia, Africa, and South America $16.00. Double boxing is highly recommended for reasons stated above in the section for domestic bidders. Please inquire about the additional cost. Due to the high cost of related shipping, satisfaction is guaranteed on a money back basis exclusive of shipping costs. No guarantees can be made for safe delivery, or delivery at all, for that matter, for international shipments that are not sent by registered or insured mail. If you would like registered or insured mail, please e-mail me for rates. The charges stated for international transactions include the fee for a Certificate of Mailing, which is validated and canceled by the United States Postal Service and provides proof that I have mailed an article to you. Also included is a modest charge to cover the additional time and energy required for international transactions, such as correspondence, customs declarations, translations, etc. Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Italian are spoken. Shipping rates are not negotiable! I do not enjoy paying them any more than you do. Please consider when you bid that your shipping costs are part of your total purchase price. Surface mail outside the United States will not be considered. I do not want your record dragged along the ocean floor! Feedback on eBay can only be posted for 90 days. Transactions that involve surface mail have insufficient time during which problems can be resolved that might influence feedback either way. Cash (currency) is acceptable for international transactions but must be sent by registered mail unless otherwise mutually agreed upon. Virtually all online payment services are available. BidPay, now with lower rates, or international money orders are strongly recommended as means for payment. PayPal will be considered if a winning bidder is able to provide satisfaction that a PayPal payment is totally bona fide. Kindly bid assuming that PayPal will not be possible and do not be offended if a request to use PayPal is not granted. This policy provides protection for users as well but only in the sense of someone else's attempting to steal a user's identity. Recent chargebacks due to fraudulent transactions and the lack of any seller protection by PayPal with regard to international transactions has made such a policy necessary. I generally always ship on the date I receive cleared funds or within one day thereafter. All international sales must be paid for within fourteen days of an auction's end. No exceptions!
