Dashiell Hedayat Obsolete (Shandar) Cover VG+ / vinyl EX- (some very superficial lines) Rare psyche/prog LP by this french poet. The “cult” word is used at random nowadays, but this record really deserve it for several reasons: first it's considered as the first “unofficial” album by the mythical GONG crew, all the cats from the band are here. Second you have some incredible featuring, with the help of beat culture icon William Burroughs on one track, and Robert Wyatt on another! Third it’s a superb album with insane hypnotic bassline, crazy atmosphere and weird FX. And fourth, this is all about drugs, LSD and out of mind lyrics. Like the back cover says: “Warning: This Record must be played as loud as possible, must be heard as stoned as impossible and thank you everybody”. THAT is cult!
