HIDE AND SEEK / RACE WITH THE WIND ... 7-inch, 45rpm single by DAVE ANTONY aka TONY HEAD. Original UK 1st pressing on mono MERCURY label (MF 1031), from 1968. Desirable, side project of Tony Head, the lead singer of Dave Anthony's Moods (a group name based on the Dave Antony stage name used by Tony at the time). Killer soul beat with screaming mod hammond and jazzy horn section on the HIDE AND SEEK side. A fine and addictive example of English R&B with hip sounding lead vocals and thunderous rhythms. Great for DJs with booming production. No doubt played-out at swinging London venues like Soho's The Scene / Bag O' Nails / Flamingo Club et al. Comped on Hide & Seek - A Collection Of British Blued Eyed Soul 1964 to 1969 by the Psychic Circle label. RACE WITH THE WIND is a fabulous pop psych number with jazz nuances and is actually an alternative version of The Robbs tune from '66. Bob Downes is most probably the session man on flute and sax. Tony Head was also a member of Fleur De Lys and also recorded with Sharon Tandy as Tony and Tandy ;) Original 3-prong centre intact. Original sleeve included too. Rare 45!!!

Vinyl is in shiny, strong VG++ condition, regardless of some hairlines / faint scuffs and some faint old residue marks from the original pressing process. Some light surface noises. Booming production sound. A few soft pops / soft ticks in places (as you can hear on our soundclip). Squiggle notation across middle of the 3-prong centre (otherwise intact). Record housed in original Mercury Records rice paper sleeve of the period. Sleeve has some light wear and general creasing. Item will be sent in a brand new poly lined inner and the original sleeve too. Rare 45!!! garage
