THE DAVE BRUBECK QUARTET - BRUBECK TIME
A very presentable copy of this rare US white label promotional Dave Brubeck jazz gem with overall impressive audio quality

Matrix numbers : XLP34616 - 1B / XLP34617 - 1B1955 Dave Brubeck white label promotional gem on US Columbia 'deep groove' record label : very (VG) condition vinyl - thick, weighty and completely flat and in normal daylight comes across as being little marked and with a nice jet black sheen. Under a good light a number of obvious scuff marks and wispy hairlines, on both sides of the vinyl, do come into view, however. Thankfully there is nothing feelable and each of these blemishes appear to be surface only and not obviously impinging upon the impressive MONO sound quality. Excellent (EX) condition black and white "NOT FOR SALE" labels with some very light spindle trails adjacent to the centre spindle hole on each. Note the circular "deep groove" on each label - a clear indicator of very early pressings for which this promotional/demo copy obviously is! Very good plus (VG+) condition non-laminated thick cardboard outer sleeve, with firm edges and just a little mlld scuffing towards the corners, and some very mild surface storage/handling/ageing marks on both sides (see photos). The only significant outer sleeve blemish is an edge split along almost the entirety of the top edge. The spine remains rock solid with all spine text perfectly intact. The opening edges are firm with no fraying or feathering, and all colours/art work remain nicely intact and with excellent definition. Still highly presentable. Very good (VG) - at least - MONO audio quality with no skips, sticks, jumps, repeats, interference, or distortion and with just the odd light background click. There is some occasional mild background crackle, more noticeable towards the beginning of each side, though for much of the record this background crackle is not really noticeable and I have to say that every track on this wonderful LP makes for a great listen still. Not perfect, but still a great listen with Dave Brubeck, Paul Desmond, Bob Bates, and Joe Dodge in top form...cool, laid back jazz at it's very best - brilliant, and a worthy addition to any serious jazz vinyl collection. Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
