DESCRIPTION
Released in 1959, Time Out is one of the most important and influential jazz albums ever recorded. With this release, the Dave Brubeck Quartet brought unconventional time signatures into the mainstream, proving that modern jazz could be both adventurous and commercially successful.
The classic quartet lineup features Dave Brubeck on piano, Paul Desmond on alto saxophone, Eugene Wright on bass, and Joe Morello on drums. Paul Desmond’s “Take Five” became the best-selling jazz single of all time, while tracks like “Blue Rondo à la Turk” and “Three to Get Ready” showcase the group’s rhythmic innovation and tight ensemble playing. Produced by Teo Macero for Columbia Records, Time Out remains a cornerstone of cool jazz and an essential album for any serious jazz collection.
This copy is an early U.S. Columbia stereo pressing, identified by the red “6-Eye” stereo labels and early “2” metal parts on both sides. Matrix details are visible in the photos and confirm early stampers rather than a later reissue.
