" DAVE " - Dave Sampson and The Hunters, Columbia Records Ltd. (ESG 7853) STEREO, 1961.
This is the ultra rare, original 1961 E.P. by Dave Sampsom and The Hunters.
Any copy of this EP is rare but the fact that this one is STEREO and in such fabulous condition pushes it right into "hen's teeth" territory (searching various other auction sites past sales I cannot find a single comparable copy to reference this one against!).
Everything is present and correct - Laminated Flip-back Picture Sleeve, Green w. Silver Text Columbia label, etc.
This record features in the Record Collector price guide for £160, although even this price does not go the whole way to describe quite how rare this record is.

CONDITION:
VINYL = EXCELLENT (When viewed in daylight I cannot see any surface marks at all, under a proper Grading Lamp I can just make out a couple of ever so faint paper scuffs/hairline marks which DO NOT sound on playback and will have been caused simply by pulling the record in and out of the sleeve rather than any misuse. PLAYS BEAUTIFULLY. Please note that my grading also includes a certain degree of "ebay caution" - many other reputable ebay traders would have graded this higher. I would speculate that this EP has had relatively few spins in it's life so far. Realistically this record is in as good a condition as any played 1961 EP can be, short of finding an unplayed copy, this is about as good as it gets!)
LABEL = EXCELLENT (The Grading Lamp reveals a few very light "spindle trails" but no real wear around the hole, over all both labels are undamaged and still have bright colours and that slight sheen that well looked after records from this period often have)
SLEEVE = EXCELLENT- (NO rips, tears, writing, defacing or spine splits. There a just a slight crease on the bottom left corner, a little bit of wear and the and a thin sliver of the laminate missing along the open edge and a spot of wear about 3mm across on the bottom left corner. Overall though it is amazing shape - it's very glossy, the colours have punch and even the white areas have not yet strayed that far from their original colour. Much like the vinyl, short of finding a copy that was locked away in a safe from new this is realistically as good as you are ever likely to find!)
