This is a unique opportunity to own this legendary album in a condition you probably won't find again soon.
Detroit-born vibist Dave Pike emerged from the West Coast cool scene as an out-and-out bebopper. While based in Germany between 1968 and 1973, his German quartet incorporated Eastern modes and extended time signatures into their music. 'Raga Jeera Swara' is taken from the 1970 album 'Infra Red', and sees Volker Kriegel's sitar and the off-kilter bassline of composer JA Rettenbacher snuggling behind Peter Baumeister's killer breakbeat.
A remarkably solid album, "Infra-Red" features a number of amazing Indian-fused numbers, not the least of which being "Raga Jeeva Swara" and "Soul Eggs". All four members of the set contributed songs to the album, which is a tad unusual, as Peter Baumeister was not nearly as proficient as the other three at writing in preceding outings, but did emphasize the Set as a unified group rather than a series of recording sessions with Pike at the helm....... don't miss this one......
