LP : Dave Pike Set – Four Reasons

Original German press from 1969 on MPS RECORDS, MPS 15 253. Rare first pressing with pink label, only 2 years later the label changed: pressings from 1971 onwards have the red MPS/BASF label. Fully laminated gatefold-cover with photos and extensive liner-notes in German & English. Recorded August 1969 at MPS Tonstudio Villingen.
Outstanding album by The Pike Set, celebrating their unique mixture of krautjazz, prog, “free” parts, rare groove and more. The dope sitar track “Greater Kalesh No. 48“ is an alltime-favourite, look for more sitar-jazz in my current auctions !

I offer an original pink label 1970 pressing of “Dave Pike / Live At The Philarmonie” on MPS in my current auctions.

Condition: the record looks mint- in daylight & in normal artificial light, it looks mint-- under a very strong halogen lamp. It plays in mint- all of the time.

The cover shows just a hint of slightest shelfwear, all seams/spine are intact without rub, on the back's top seam there's one tiny dent, inner, front & back are fine, the lamination is complete but has started to pop up in a few smaller spots but it still sticks close to the surface; overall mint--/ex++

Zustand: die LP sieht bei Tageslicht & unter einer normalen Lampe mint- aus, unter einer sehr hellen Halogenlampe sieht sie mint-- aus. Sie spielt durchgehend in mint- .

Das Cover hat nur ganz leichte Lagerspuren, alle Kanten sind intakt und ohne Abrieb, auf der Rückseite ist auf der oberen Kante eine ganz leichte Delle, das Innere des Klappcovers und Vorder- & Rückseite sind sehr schön erhalten, an einigen kleineren Stellen hat sich die Laminierung ganz leicht gelöst, liegt aber noch eng auf dem cover; insgesamt in mint--/ex++. alle Platten habe ich professionell gereinigt und angehört (meist ganz, manchmal in Ausschnitten). Kommen mit neuer Außen- & Innenhülle !

Grading & Cleaning:

  • the record has been cleaned on my professional HANNL record cleaning machine

  • after that I playgraded it (completely or at least in parts) on my Rega Planar 9, Moving Coil cartridge by EINSTEIN:TU-3 Super Fine Line ( please consider that the playback might differ a bit depending on your own equipment )

  • I also visually graded the record in daylight, in normal artificial light & under a strong halogen lamp

  • only an unplayed record is mint, the highest grading for a used record is mint- ! My basic gradings are: mint – ex – vg

  • cleaned records are stored in a new pro innersleeve and they are placed in a PVC protection-sleeve
