Description

DAVID BOWIE

By

DAVID BOWIE

1969 AUSTRALIAN ORIGINAL.

RADIO STATION COPY.

(Have a look at the Ziggy Stardust Test Pressing I am selling.

Read the description about the DJs marker tape, Here is another

DJ tape, this use here is known as a DJs timing strip. I have other

test pressings and promos that bare similar tapes.)

The is a Radio Station copy of David Bowie`s 1969 classic LP

called David Bowie. Also known as the Curly hair Phillips LP.

This is another incredibly rare and incredibly difficult LP to locate.

If you are lucky enough to locate one of these (just like the Dress Cover)

these Australian Philips LPs are notorious for wring ware. This is

actually the best conditioned sleeve I have ever seen.

This differs hugely to the UK release for a number of reasons.

Firstly this is an ultra rare Radio Station Copy from ABC radio station.

The AUSTRALIAN BRADCASTING CORPARATION (ABC RADIO).

Firstly it is none gatefold. As you see here the front is laminated and its

looks SUPERB.

The spine is completely intact and all spinal writings remain undamaged.

There is a seam split at the top of the sleeve visible if you double click

the pictures. It does not spoil the appearance of the sleeve and could be

repaired easily with transparent tape in the new owner chooses.

Also present and in near mint condition is the ultra rare and very

heavily textured lyric sheet. Magnificent.

As you can see one of the DJs has written the catalogue number on the back

of the LP and there is a stamp in red ink that reads PROPERTY OF ABC RADIO.

If you also Double click the pictures you will see the gorgeous

BLUE Phillips record label has been stamped also with

PROPERTY of ABC RADIO.

The reverse of the sleeve has the DJs timing strip I spoke of

on the Ziggy Test pressing listing....

The back of the sleeve is a great design with the circles from the front imposed

on that half profile shot of David`s face (FATSTIC ARETWORK).

The labels are in great shape and look very impressive with the silver

typeset  on that blue background.

The vinyl has quite a few unsightly marks but it plays through entirely

without jumps or sticking.

To be perfectly fair I would say visually the vinyl would grade at

7 out of 10 but it plays much better than it looks. The worst part of the

whole of the LP being hyper critical would be. There is 3 loud clicks at

the beginning is Space Oddity and 30 seconds or so background noise

towards the song ending. other than that it plays fine throughout.

I would say it plays a very strong 8 out of ten or Very Good ++.

It really does sound great and its a great LP to enjoy . I would grade the vinyl

at very good ++ or 8 out of 10 .

Incidentally.

Cygnet Committee bares one of my favourite ever Bowie lines.

"I will kill for the girl who will fight for the right to be right"

MAGNIFICENT and controversial lyric writing for such a young man.

At this time David was only 23.

I think this is the greatest acoustic LP ever made.

Make no mistake especially collectors relatively new to

collecting Bowie vinyl .

This LP is extremely hard to find, here it is for you all

to have a go at, and with a no reserve !!!.
