DAVID BOWIE.

DAVID BOWIE
ORIGINAL 1967 UK RELEASE.
DERAM SML 1007 MONO .
This is the highly sort after but very rarely located UK original release
of David Bowie`s debut LP called David Bowie, on Deram records.
As you can see its the MONO version and in near immaculate condition.
The sleeve has the tiniest amount of ring ware, and there are three slight laminate
cracks in the front right hand corner visable if you double click the pictures.
There is no wring ware to the back of the sleeve whatsoever.
However there is a small light stain to the left about half way up the sleeve
near the edge , but its pretty inofensive. The spine is in great condition
condition, and all the spinal writings are bold and crystal clear no letters
are damaged or missing.
Both labels have hardly any spindle markings and I can`t see any hairlines
on this vinyl on either side. The vinyl is magnificent.
As you can see this copy also has its rare and original poly lined inner sleeve ,
it has some yellowing but this item 49 years old.
Overall I would grade it as Excellent- due only to the mark on the back I
mentioned earlier and those laminate cracks on the front.
A really beautiful original example of a very, very rare and
highly desirable David Bowie debut LP .
Seldom seen, especially in condition like this.

The record plays entirely from start to finish in perfect order. That description
applies to both sides. In between tracks in the deadwax you can here the
needle passing through the grooves in the normal way. There is nothing on here
that I could call a fault to the sound quality like hissing or background noise no interference
whatsoever.
This to my mind is another Bowie LP that gets overlooked. This is my wife`s favourite Bowie LP
by far. Over the years she has won me over to this...Bowie himself is very hard on this LP calling
it his only collection of totally forgettable pop music. I do not agree.....
It reminds me in many ways of Elvis Presley`s first 2 LPs . I think Bowie on here is fishing to find his
own voice as he flits from Baritone to Falsetto and everything in between as did Elvis on his first albums.
It was the late 60s so the 3 minute pop song was still the order of the day, so at this time the 19 year old
Bowie was no different to anyone else creating pop songs typical of the 60s. Or was he ? I think that
David Bowie was really pushing boundaries on here with his lyric writing. Like on We are hungry men
"We will overlook infanticide" what a line....Or my Favourite The little Bombardier ,which is a magnificent
pop song that deals with the repulsive ugliness of a paedaphile in the Picture House. This was a real insight
into Bowie`s skill as a songwriter ,he manages to find a nice way to tell a horrible story.
Just more evidence to Bowie`s genius ....This is a very rare and very underestimated LP.
