Description
DAVID BOWIE 'Hunky Dory' Original 1971 Issue with LAMINATED COVER plus Insert Here's a copy of the very rare 1971 first release of David Bowie's 'Hunky Dory' issued with front laminated sleeve.
Hunky Dory apparently sold relatively poorly; this was the year before Bowie's breakthrough with 'Starman' and 'Ziggy Stardust'. The first copies from 1971 are identified by the laminated sleeve, which was soon phased out. Here are some details from the vinyl:
Side 1: Matrix APRS 5917-3T and in the vinyl play out - 'Bobil' and A1U
Side 2: Matrix APRS 5918-3t and in the vinyl play out - 'Rasputin' and A1Q

Grading: I use the 'Record Collector' magazine grading system. Please see below. CONDITION: Visual grading is EX (see below). Vinyl has a few light scuffs but nothing serious and is shiny and clean. Cover has the usual light creases at the spine, a little bit of edgewear at the opening and one tiny loss at top right corner where a ticket may have been fixed. Laminate is good and shiny. This is a very nice copy - not much played and well cared for.
POSTAGE & PACKING: £2.75 (UK), £4.75 (Rest of EEC), £7.50 (Rest of World). International rates quoted are via airmail and do not include the cost of insurance or tracking, which may be added on sales over a certain figure. Surface Rates may be available.
I will be happy to combine postage on multiple purchases. Buyers, regardless of how many items purchased, only pay actual cost of postage and packing.
PAYMENT: Paypal or (for UK buyers, if preferred) cheque or postal order Record Collector Grading System:
MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable. Thank you for looking at my auction. I aim to be accurate with my descriptions but, if for any reason, I have made a mistake and you are unhappy with the item, please give me the opportunity to make things right. All items are posted via standard post (unless otherwise directed) and I will obtain, as proof of postage, a Certificate of Posting. On valuable items, you might want to consider having them sent via Registered or Signed For and taking out insurance, which I can organise .
