Description

Original, very early 1970s David Bowie LP entitled, "Hunky Dory." This is on the RCA Victor label LSP-4623 (original, first pressing with orange 'dynaflex' labels). What makes this even better is it comes with the very rare, original, promotional-only press kit!! Grading is as follows:
The vinyl is in absolutely beautiful near mint/unplayed condition!! There are no spindle marks on either of the labels. Comes with its original lyric inner sleeve, which is in great shape as well (no splits or tears)!! The record is now housed in a newer, polylined/antistatic sleeve. Just super!!

The 'textured' cover is a beautiful VG++ to M- and it looks great also!! Maybe just a 'speck' or two of any surface or edgewear only, but certainly no splits, no tears, no creases, no writing, no stains, no cutout holes, no delete marks, etc. Again, just outstanding!!
The press kit is complete and in great shape also!! It contains the following: Two black & white glossy promotional/publicity photos of David Bowie (one measuring 8" x 10" and one that is very slightly factory-cropped and measures 7.25" x 10". Both photos have the same images that were used on the front and back cover of the LP. A four-page bio letter from RCA about David Bowie and another four-page letter detailing the LP and the story behind each of its songs (much of the information for which came directly from Bowie himself). Both of these letters are printed on watermarked, official paper with the same front-cover image of Bowie!! All of these are housed in a very nice envelope/folder that has the same "sepia" photo artwork that was used on the back cover of the LP (of Bowie dressed "in drag")!! This press kit was issued in very small quantities by the label itself to industry executives at the time. David Bowie had just recently been signed to RCA and "Hunky Dory" was his first LP release for the label. Although he'd had a modest hit with "Space Oddity" a couple years earlier, he was still a relatively unknown artist in the United States. This press kit was obviously intended to hype what the label viewed as his potential. He would, of course, become an international superstar and rock icon in just a couple short years!! A very cool and historical piece indeed!!

Please review the photos for song titles and additional details. Please scroll below to see my full vinyl and cover/sleeve grading guidelines. Vinyl gradings are visual only, unless I specifically state otherwise. Please also see the other, similar items I currently have listed on Ebay; I do combine shipping.
All of my LPs are shipped in professionally-designed, heavy duty cardboard mailers with extra cardboard padding.

I personally write all of my own titles and descriptions, take all of my own photos, and package all items for mailing myself.  I do not use text, photos or information from “other” sources and would certainly never do so without referencing them. Items pictured in any of my listings are always the actual items that buyers will receive from me.

Payment by PAYPAL ONLY....I do not accept any other form of payment. Unless the buyer makes a different arrangement with me, payment is expected within three days (72 hours) from the closing date of the item.

Buyer satisfaction and returns:  Item must be returned to me in the same condition as it was packaged and mailed to the buyer.

Items are normally shipped within 1 to 2 business days from receipt of payment.

My vinyl and cover/sleeve gradings are as follows:

MINT: I do not use this grade except for sealed/unopened items.

NEAR MINT or MINT MINUS: Vinyl looks basically brand new, untouched, unplayed or nearly unplayed. Cover looks pretty much as new with no real flaws to speak of. This is basically how the item would have looked when it was new from the factory.

VG++: Very close to M-, with vinyl showing only the very slightest, most subtle signs of any past handling or play. Cover may show just the barest hint of wear from age, but nothing at all serious or detracting.

VG+: Vinyl shows some subtle signs that it was played in the past, but was generally well taken care of. Cover shows only some minor signs of age or wear, but nothing too detracting.

VG: Vinyl is beginning to show more obvious signs of past handling and play but still has strong sound quality overall. Cover is beginning to show more signs of age and wear, but is fully intact and still displays very well overall.

GOOD: Vinyl has very obvious signs of wear from over the years, but still plays strongly and enjoyably enough. Cover has obvious wear and tear from age, but is intact and still displayable.

***My very good and good records are very good and good, not bad and even worse! I also do not use the EX (excellent) grading at all.***

FAIR:  Record wasn’t properly cared for in the past and very clearly shows it, but it is still playable and should be enjoyable enough for some. I rarely offer records in this condition.
