Description

DAVID BOWIE Hunky Dory  Vinyl LP

Label: RCA Victor   Cat# LSP-4623    Australia.

Black Vinyl, 12" LP 33rpm.

Matrix / Runout A Side (Machine Pressed): A4A1   A  8   APRS 5947 5S

Matrix / Runout B Side (Machine Pressed): C1A0 APRS 5948  2S  1 (1 is scratched through).

Notable differences in the Oz version are the yellow typeface, which is situated entirely within the photo on the front of the sleeve (nothing in the black border). The front of the sleeve is laminated, the back isn't, and they weren't made with much of a spine. A Gem production, no mention of Mainman on the sleeve.  The labels on this disc are a puzzle, I can not find identical labels on Discogs, or anywhere else on the net. If you know different, please contact me. The matrix numbers would appear to be earlier than the supposed 1971 (some say 1972) 1st press (A4A1 not A4A4 with no 35XX on side 2) yet the labels have a Mainman credit. Your guess is as good as mine, and probably better. The labels are pristine, shame about the vinyl, which has many light surface scratches, which do affect the audio. Even though both sides play through OK, the best that I can honestly rate the vinyl is G+. The sleeve is not bad at all, no rips, writing, stickers, slits or major damage. It has edge-wear, minor ringwear and short edge creases in the laminate on the black border (see pic).  I can just about rate the sleeve VG. If you want a good playable copy, this is not for you, if you want a rare collectors item to display, it is. As far as I know, the Oz version was never sold with an insert, or a printed inner. This one has neither. If you want more details, please contact me.

Overseas buyers please note that you should select a 'signed-for' service if the value of the record exceeds £30.00.
