Description
Up for auction is a copy of Hunky Dory by David Bowie, released in 1971 on RCA Victor, cat no SF 8244, a UK pressing. This is a very early edition with a laminated front cover and no Mainman logo on the rear, though there is a Gem Production credit. The vinyl has 3T matrix numbers on both sides & has the correct Bobil & Rasputin etchings in the runout grooves corresponding to a first pressing. The insert is also present. Very rare.
Condition: vinyl is very nice; there are a few minor marks but nothing to seriously affect play. There is also a small area of fogging on the rim of side 2. It looks a little odd, but again doesn’t seriously affect the sound. The cover has a few laminate “thumb creases” and edge wrinkles, and a few minor marks on the rear, but is pretty decent for a 46 year old LP. The insert is also pretty reasonable; a few creases, but no writing, tears or serious damage. Probably VG all round, verging on VG+.
My grades: I use a 10-point scale: M-; EX; VG+; VG; VG-; G+; G; G-; F (fair); P (poor). I never use mint as a grade for used records. I am a long-time (25+ years!) record collector, and play-grade where possible. I don’t use stock photos: the item in pictured here is the item for sale.
