1972 picture sleeve PROMO single
The pace which music used to be produced! Back in December of 1971, the new David Bowie album was 'Hunky Dory.' It was a bit of a flop. These days, that would mean that the artist would take three years to figure out their next move. But that's not the way it was done back then.
Nope! David Bowie was already in the studio and out with new recordings only a few months later. By April this picture sleeve single of "Starman" and "Suffragette City" was on the streets. It did very well in the UK (hitting #10), and even got into the US charts too (only to #65).
Bowie followed it in June with his next album 'The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust….. " and both track were included on that release.
Not many bought the single, and not many got this great picture sleeve. Now you can have both and on a promo too !
