Although it is sometimes referred to as the US remix, the version of 'Rebel Rebel' released in the USA several months after the UK release is actually a completely different version, re-recorded near the end of the Diamond Dogs sessions. The new version abandons the rough-cut garage sound of the original in favour of layers of effects, echo, phasing, percussion and backing vocals and is said to be a 100% solo effort apparently featuring Bowie playing every single instrument (including drums).
The demo/promo features mono and stereo versions of the track.
The disk has a couple of fine marks visible in normal light, and under bright, direct light, other hairlines, sleeve removal lines and fine surface marks can be seen, but there's nothing significant. I've listened to both sides and it sounds great with no significant issues. There is some background noise here and there, but no repetitive clicks and so I would play-grade it as Very Good plus (VG+) to Excellent minus (Ex-). The labels have some scuffs, marks and signs of use and both have a sticker-removal 'shadow', but no writing, tears or other significant issues.
The RCA USA paper sleeve has various signs of age and use, but it is complete and in one piece.
