Description
From humble beginnings, a superstar of modern prog/glam-rock and pop started out a storied career. Now known as the 'chameleon' of rock, DAVID BOWIE has been innovative on every level he has sprung from. Here he took the Anthony Newley approach to rhyming tunes, in a period of 'toytown' pop that was happening in British pop. Competent instrumental playing helps young David Jones (Bowie's real name, which he quickly had changed!) along here, and allows Bowie to present his quirky songs with clarity and his own expression - the desired effect to endear you to the fun, the storytelling, and the youthful charm in these grooves. Mission accomplished! On the original DERAM RECORDS label MONO DE 16003 for US release, the vinyl is in OUTSTANDING NEAR MINT shape, the labels are also lovely and clean, like new. The stiff card cover is a wonderful EXCELLENT condition, having very little wear whatsoever. There is evidence of an attempted PROMOTION COPY stamp on the rear, but that is so faint that I had to look closely to realise what it was there. There are no price stickers or penmarks on this. So a STUPENDOUS and RARE album from the earliest period for a music SUPERSTAR! Take a look at the pictures, with that fresh-faced lad with the Keith Relf (legendary Yardbirds lead singer)/Scott Walker hairdo! Tres chic n'est pas? All the rage with the mods at that time.
