The audio is truly stunning through out! The Vinyl and audio is graded as Near as Mint in my opinion! Only ever played to record the audio for this listing!

Stage is David Bowie's second live album, recorded on the Isolar II world tour, and released by RCA Records in 1978.




 First UK pressings were on translucent yellow vinyl and some European pressings were also available on blue vinyl. Though it was rumoured at the time that this would be his final outing with the label, following dissatisfaction over the promotion of Low and "Heroes", Bowie would in fact remain with RCA until 1982.




The recording was culled from concerts in Philadelphia, Providence and Boston, USA, in late April and early May 1978.




It primarily included material from Bowie's most recent studio albums to that date, Station to Station, Low and "Heroes" but, in a surprise show of nostalgia, also featured five songs from The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.




Aside from Bowie's core team of Carlos Alomar, Dennis Davis and George Murray, band members included ex-Frank Zappa sideman Adrian Belew on guitar, Simon House from Hawkwind on electric violin, Roger Powell, best known for his work with Todd Rundgren in the group Utopia, on keyboards and Sean Mayes on piano, string ensemble and backup vocals. All would reunite the following year on Bowie's next studio LP, Lodger.




Generally considered more relaxed than Bowie's previous live album, David Live (1974), Stage was praised on its initial vinyl release for the fidelity with which the band was able to emulate in concert the electronic and effects-filled numbers from Low and "Heroes", as well as for the singer's vocal performance.




However, it was criticised for lacking a 'live' atmosphere, thanks to the recording being largely taken from direct instrument and microphone feeds which increased sound quality but minimised crowd noise. The original concert running order was also changed, with fades between tracks similar to a studio album.




As Bowie rarely tampered with the arrangements – in contrast to his method on David Live – Stage added little to what was available on the original albums, and hence was seen by some commentators as simply a marketing exercise that did not do justice to a memorable series of live concerts.





Even the cover picture came in for criticism, more so because the rest of the package contained only variations of the same shot.







Stage reached No. 5 in the UK album charts but only No. 44 in the US. "Breaking Glass," which originally appeared in shorter form on Low, was released as a single. A 2005 reissue saw most of the criticisms of the original LP addressed, and the new version garnered some favourable reviews.







The album is included in The Quietus' list of its writers' "40 Favourite Live Albums".

The Vinyls
This is the 1st issue translucent vinyls (Only 1st UK press) On initial visual inspection the vinyls looks like new vinyls in my opinion. Amazingly, I can't see any spider marksat all on the labels! This looks like it has just came out of the shop! This lays perfectly flat on the turntable and are free from any warping. (Note! I have double checked these) The vinyl looks superb, still retaining its original glossy sheen from new. Only In strong light could possibly any surface marks be seen caused by the vinyl been slid in and out of its sleeve all though I can not see any at all,. Note: (no) deep needle scratches that would cause any loud constant clicks or pops at all! These are like new! Very very rare like this!

The Audio Quality
I have played the vinyls just one time prior to listing on a top system at very loud volume to record the audio for you to hear in the player above! The audio is superbe cristal clear and very vibrant throughout! Top audio seperation on all frequencies only heard like this on early original 1st pressings! These look and play like new vinyls in my opinion, there were no loud constant clicks/ticks, pops or any jumps truly awesome and very rare for a 1st pressing. The audio is graded at very Near as Mint in my opinion!

PLEASE NOTE! I always add this disclaimer! I have played this album prior to listing as usual and have given my honest opinion on the audio quality. Please remember this is a 38 years old original vinyl (not a reissue) Please allow for the odd interference/static pop/crackle/tick but importantly nothing consistant through out the audio! Please remember  that this would have been originally played on a system that is 38 years old!
All indications i.e. that this vinyl has (not) been overplayed and in fact looks barely ever played in my personal opinion, at least no more than a handful of times in my opinion and the audio quality superbe on all frequencies and the fact there are no more than one spider mark each side on the labels that I can see!
 
The labels
This features the original orange "RCA" labels.  These are superbe No spider marks at all , (even when angled to the light)Looks totally unplayed in my opinion and little if (no) spindle ware! The labels are like new!

The Record Sleeves
This is the original white die cut plain paper sleeves. These are beginning to brown with age at the edges. The vinyls are now always stored seperately from the sleeve.

The cover
The original 1st issue fully laminated  gate fold cover is superbe!  There are (no) edge splits or tears and infact no real creases to talk of.  The wide spine is square and near perfect condition and the writing can clearly be seen! Note!  A truly superbe example rarely seen like this.!  Any other imperfections/rubbing or indents are very minor and are not really noticed unless looked for in my opinion. The rear is superb and inside is superb in my opinion. Must be at least Excellent Plus To Very Near Mint in my opinion rarely ever seen like this after 38 years!
