COLOUR PROOF SLEEVE.
ONLY 25 COPIES KNOWN TO EXIST.
This was the first sleeve copy intended for David Bowies 1976 master piece
STATIONTOSTATION. A copy of this was shown to Bowie while he was on the set of
THE MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH but he rejected it because he deemed it "too Happy" it wasnt
in keeping with his knew hard boiled charector The thin white Duke so plumped for the darker and bleaker
black and white sleeve.
There is no shortage of slicks of this that exist I myself know of one
New York collector who bought 250 from Christies plaza centre NY 15 years ago as a job lot.
But the full made sleeve is rare only 25 known to exist.

To the left of the shot from the Record Collector book the sequential numbers starting with
67 are the years of the LP release . Go down untill you reach 76 .
As you can see it clearly values this David Bowie STATIONTOSTATION colour proof
sleeve at £500+ and as all serious collectors know Record Collector is notorious for its
undervaluing.
There is a counterfeit of this LP sleeve that exists but it is easily identifiable by no writing
on the spine and an unclear serial number written on the front lower right hand corner.
Again double click the pictures to see both of these points here in perfect condition.
On the back of the LP sleeve on the counterfeit you will also find shaddowing on the
trademark text below the RCA logo , double click the pictures to see none of that here.
There is a slight ding to the bottom right corner and a slight crease a couple of inches
above that but appart from those two small faults the item is in lovely condition allround .
Also the counterfeit is badly stuck together this is due to a really low quality paper being used.
As you can see this is perfect all round.
Printed in the USA , there is no record with this sleeve but when I bought this in a collectors
record store in Australia 28 years ago it came with the USA LP with the B+W sleeve that you
see side by side in the pictures I will throw this in the auction also.
