First press of the RCA issue of this classic Bowie album, with inner lyric sleeve and the hard to find poster.

BPRS 4512 1E  &  BPRS 4513 1E  earliest matrix numbers.

Original 1972 glossy orange RCA labels with Victor printed on white to the right hand side of the label.  

CONDITION:       STRICT  U.K. MAGAZINE  'RECORD COLLECTOR'  GRADING SYSTEM USED.  I aim to provide an accurate and honest appraisal of condition.  It’s in my best interests to do so.  I WANT YOU TO COME BACK.    All records are checked in good natural light and play tested IN FULL at a high volume on an original Technics 1210 MK2 turntable fitted with an Ortofon 2M Red stylus (tracking at 1.8g).    Used records are cleaned using a Moth vacuum record cleaning machine prior to play testing, unless condition deems unnecessary. 

Playing condition ranges from VG to EX, with the majority of the album playing toward the higher grade.     Occasional surface noise/light crackle – on some of the quieter sections and in between tracks.     Overall, No major faults  NO loud overpowering crackle  NO consecutive clicks  NO distortion  NO jumps  NO sticking. 

Visually the vinyl is graded as EX+/NrMINT.    2 or 3 light surface-only marks on side1.   No obvious marks on other side.     Vinyl nice and clean and retains its original sheen.  Still looks practically new.   

Labels are EX.    No obvious spindle marks.   Would grade higher if not for a name written on side1 label.    All text perfectly readable.  NO stickers.

Sleeve is in VG+ condition.  Would grade higher if not for a name written on the back (see photos).   Light sticker mark on top front right corner.     Edges still nice and neat – all spine text perfectly readable.    NO seam splits  NO rips.  

Inner in VG+/EX- condition.   Some obvious creasing.  Light rubbing in places.  NO seam splits  NO tears  NO stickers  NO writing.  

Poster in EX+/NrMINT condition.   Mild crumpling only.   Still looks practically new.   Looks like it’s hardly been out of the sleeve.   No rips/tears.   No tape marks or pin holes.

Record Collector Magazine Grading System  - VINYL

MINT The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint

EXCELLENT (EX) The record shows some signs of having been played but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG) The record has obviously been played many times but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratches. Normal wear and tear on the cover and extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable

GOOD (G) The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeable deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F) The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and or deface

POOR (P) The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing

BAD (B) The record is unplayable or might even be broken and is only of use as a collection filler
