This is a 1st UK pressing with 1E/1E matrixes and no mention of Mainman anywhere on the cover or record labels. 

Everything is in outstanding condition and I think it would be very hard to find a better one. (Please note there are some beams of light on some of the photos, which were taken on a sunny day. These are NOT on the actual item.)

Description
Disc: The vinyl has retained its original sheen with almost nothing to see even when viewed under bright, direct light. There are just a handful of tiny, fine marks, but nothing significant anywhere. I would visually grade this as Ex+ to Near Mint (NM).  I've played the whole album from start to finish and it sounds superb with almost nothing to report. Almost all of both sides plays flawlessly, with even the fades and silent grooves playing really quietly. The only thing that prevents me giving the audio the highest play-grade were and handful of very small tics in a few places on the opening track. But this is me being very picky as they were really quiet and didn't in any way detract from the enjoyment of the listening experience. There was nothing else to report anywhere on either side all of which play-grades as Near Mint (NM). However to allow for the tiny issues in 'Five Years' I would play-grade side one overall as Excellent (Ex). although almost all of it is better than that. Side two play-grades as Near Mint (NM) throughout.

Labels: No tears, stickers, writing etc.

Sleeve: This is the original early sleeve with no Mainman logo on the rear and warmer colours than subsequent releases (which were noticeably darker). The sleeve has no seam splits, tears, writing, stickers etc, and minimal signs of age or use. There is virtually no wear to the edges or spine, apart from at the very tips of the corners. There is some minor creasing at the top spine corner, but this is easily one of the best examples I've seen for a first press Ziggy Stardust cover.

Inner sleeve: This is the original, first press inner sleeve with sculpted opening (later ones were much straighter). It has no splits or tears and minimal signs of handling or  use.  Very hard to find like this.

Detracting features not covered above:  None. This is a superb example that I think would be very hard to improve on.

Where gradings are given these are based on the UK Record Collector grading system (see below) and are visual gradings only, unless the listing specifically states that it is a play-grading.

I use the UK RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING SYSTEM. This grading system differs from some other grading systems, in particular the Goldmine grading system. Please make sure that you are familiar with the UK record collector grading system before you bid.

Mint: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packag­ing might have slight wear and/or creasing.

Very Good: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable sur­face marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

Fair: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for prop­erly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

Poor: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

Plus (+) or Minus (-) are added where items fall between gradings. I only ever use one plus or minus.
