I have been collecting records for decades and the time has come for some of them to find a new home. Most will be in excellent condition, some have been in my family for years and remain unplayed. I will grade them all fairly and listen to most before listing.

All of them will be professionally cleaned before being sent.

Up for auction here is DAVID BOWIE: "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars." Released in the Uk on RCA Victor SF 8287 (LSP 4702) in 1972.

This is a Rare First UK pressing, with its Original printed lyric inner sleeve.

There is no Mainman logo on the back of the sleeve or the labels. Later issues have a Mainman publishing credit instead of Titanic and include a Mainman logo on the rear of the sleeve. This record has the Gem credits as do all first presses.

Both SF 8287 and (LSP 4702) are shown on cover and label; LSP-4702 is only number on inner sleeve.

Matrix / Runout (A Side): BGBS 0864 - 1E;  (B-side,): BGBS 0865 - 1E , which are the earliest possible matrix numbers.

The vinyl is visually in Excellent + condition and looks barely played.The audio is also really good and it plays through without and skips or jumps. There are no ticks or clicks just some very light background noise which is slightly more noticeable on the last track on both sides. Overall it was a superb listen and I would grade it as Excellent.

The Labels are in awesome condition with no spindle marks which shows how little this has been played . I would grade as Near Mint

The Original Robert Stace sleeve is graded as Very Good+ due to some light creasing and signs of wear. There is a little ring wear on the front but the spine is clear and legible.

The record comes with its original inner lyric sleeve which has some light creasing but is free from splits. The record will be sent in a new inner.

Overall a brilliant copy of this absolute classic.

I use Record Collector ratings to grade my vinyl. These are :

Mint: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.

Excellent: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening of sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

Very Good: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration etc..

Fair: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise: it may even jump. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

Poor: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise etc.. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
