For the serious collector , they dont come much more important than this rare cd .In 1971 David Bowie only performed 10 concerts , this is the 9th concert of the 10. It took place at AYLSBURY FRIARS CLUB 25th Sept 1971 . Its important for many reasons , after the flop of the 67 Deram album called David Bowie , then the flop of the 69 Phillips album also called David Bowie , some chart success with Space oddity , then the flop of the 1970 US release of THE Man who Sold the World ,the flop of his second single Prettiest Star , we come to 1971 and these 10 sparse shows .What was he doing ? Why so few gigs ?Bowie must have been at a loss as to what was going on , will we ever make it ?Thats why this concert is so important for the fan. This is David bowie Totally unmasked Long before he shrowded himself in characters .After all that failing this concert was a massive turning point , David NEVER appeared this honestly , as himself , for 30 years .
That Abundance of writing on the left hand side of the open cd , is the transcription of every word Bowie spoke during this concert . Waffling and Babbling like a nervous young lad , at times almost pleading with the audiance to like what he and the band are doing , you can tell he is really nervous and in between the songs , he starts talking about the difficulty his mother had getting him out of bed in the morning as a child ??? Who wants to know that ? I DO , I WANT TO KNOW EVERYTHING.
Dont get me wrong , i love Bowie as much as the next person , but i woud`nt want to eat his shit or wear it or anything . One just wants to know a bit of personal stuff , who does`nt?
The music and singing on here is a different story . Nobody`s nervous and Mick and the boys are right on form and Bowies Vocals are loud powerfull and sharp .Its so strange to hear David say " This song is called Changes" , and not get a single handclap .(this show took place 2 months before Hunky Dory was released) But that matters little since Hunky Dory also flopped on its release .
We never heard David Bowie talk this much for the next 30 years , you can bet Tony Defries said , Hey , Your Mum getting you outta bed , Whats that shit ? You Want to be a rockstar , ACT LIKE ONE!

Brand new and unplayed , and a VERY important part of the David Bowie story , and history .And one of the reasons David HAD to wear a mask called Ziggy Stardust .Here he is without it , no reserve.Seriously important cd.
