Vinyl looks in very good condition, no obvious marks.
There is no middle.
“Liza Jane” was the first recording to be released as a single by David Bowie, but under the name Davie Jones and the King Bees. This event took place in 1964 when Bowie was 17 years old.
The B-side of the single was the Paul Revere and the Raiders song "Louie, Louie Go Home".
If you are about to bid on this item please read the following information.
At first I thought this was the 1964 original, but further investigation leads me to think that this is a very good copy. The evidence is not concrete, but it does seem that way.
I have been informed that the original has a machine printed Matrix and copies of the single have a handwritten Matrix, this copy has a very neat handwritten Matrix. I have yet to see a picture of the original Matrix.
I have also been informed that the original did have a middle, I have seen pictures of what is claimed to be an original release with and without the middle.
Although there were re-releases on the Decca label in 1978, it is unclear when copies of the one I am selling were distributed.
If there is anyone who has 100% information or evidence either one way or the other please feel free to contact me, otherwise I feel I must be honest and auction this as a possible copy...... Thank you for your time.
