 David Bowie’s third album and was a heavy-metal departure from the somewhat folky first two releases. Reviewers have weighed in, saying, “It’s dark, it's crunchy, it's wild, and oddly whimsical.” And, “Tales of madness, the occult, science fiction, maniac Vietnam vets and a race of superhumans fill this bizarre masterpiece of sonic indulgence.”  Mick Ronsen, later Bowie’s lead guitarist on “The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars” was instrumental in crafting this new sound.

This original 1970 US Mercury release SR-61325 features the cartoon cover of a cowboy standing in front of the Cane Hill Asylum by Michael J. Weller.  (Wiki notes that David Bowie’s brother was a patient at Cane Hill at one point.)

Factory-sealed, but with a small hole punch in the lower left corner.  There is some very, very light ring wear, a couple of small tears in the plastic and a price sticker.  It will be hard to find a better copy of this piece of musical history.
