Here is David Bowie with his 1970 album entitled "The Man Who Sold The World."  Released in Nov of 1970.  Mercury Stereo SR 61325.  Stamped matrix reads:  SR 61325-A-M2.

The tunes on this LP are much different than an earlier LP in 1970 from England entitled The World of David Bowie.  That sounded more English pop/folk.  This LP here is more rock/glam rock/progressive art rock.  Heavier rock sound to this one!  Great tunes such as Running Gun Blues and The Man Who Sold The World.  Bowie on guitar and vocals; Tony Visconti on electric bass, piano, guitar; Mick Ronson on guitar (RIP); Mick Woodmansey on drums; Ralph Mace on Moog Synthesizer.  Was recorded and remixed in London England. 

I saw Bowie in Cleveland in Sept 1972 at the Music Hall... first USA gig for him.  Cleveland idolized him.  Came back in November to play a sold out gig!  My ex-boyfriend Brian Sands (before he was my boyfriend) started the International David Bowie Fan Club out of Cleveland back in 1969, before USA became really aware of his band, and he got to know Tony Visconti (bass), who was also Bowie's manager.   Cleveland definitely was in sorrow upon his recent death.  The day after his death, I got together with a bunch of friends and acquaintances and hit two bars to listen and sing to Bowie tunes on the internet jukeboxes and share stories of those early days.  The 2nd bar had 2 guys playing a set of Bowie tunes, too.  Cleveland's Terminal Tower building was lit up with blue lights as a tribute to him ("Planet earth is blue and there's nothing I can do..." )

Side 1:  The Width of a Circle; All the Madmen; Black Country Rock; After All.

Side 2:  Running Gun Blues; Saviour Machine; She Shook Me Cold; The Man Who Sold the World; The Supermen.

The cover has dark ringwear spots at the top and bottom mid sections.  Unfortunately, the bottom seam is opened about 8".  I won't glue it, I'll let you do it.  The side seam where the title and artist is listed is in great readable shape.  Back cover has some white and dark marks as ringwear at the top mid section, right side border and bottom border and a little in the middle of the back cover.  Penned in initials (DL) are at the very top left corner.   Comes in a plain white inner sleeve. 

The vinyl:  Looks:  Side 1 with a feelable scratch, see further for detailed description of this, photo included here.  Side 2 has only a couple of super light surface scratches not affecting sound.  Generally, all sounds good with very minimal crackling here and there.  No skips.  No fuzz noise.  BUT, side 1 has a long deep scratch that you can feel and it goes across half of All The Madmen (but was light there and blended in ok with the music), Black Country Rock and After All.  After playing it through on my Technics turntable/KLM, I did hear a single light pop each time it circled that scratch in those last 2 tunes.  In some areas, it mixed in a bit with the band's music, but in some areas when it was quieter, you heard it.  So I hope you can be okay with this depending on what you are doing with the LP.  Side 2 was fine and sounded great!   

I rate the album cover as just Very Good (VG) due to ringwear and bottom seam tear.  Vinyl gets just Very Good Plus (VG+) for side 1 with the pop, but Excellent for Side 2.

Guidelines I use to rate the quality of these records (based on the Goldmine Grading Guide):

NM:  Near Mint - Vinyl, still shiny, as if opened for the first time. No writing or stickers on the vinyl. No obvious scratches. Label: No writing or stickers and no fading of the label.  LP cover should have no creases, folds, seam splits or similar defects. 

NM-: Near Mint Minus (My grading item/description).   Similar to NM but will have some very light scratches on the vinyl not affecting the sound quality. No writing or stickers on label and no fading (or ringwear) on cover or label.

EX: Excellent - Not quite a Goldmine Standard Listing, but being used by many now. Cover: No ink wear, minor creases to corners, no seam tears. Vinyl can have scratches, but not felt by your fingers. Sound quality must be mint. No more than 15% of the surface should have wear or scuffs on it. To me, EX is like a VG++.

VG+: Very Good Plus - Similar to NM- except that on the label, there may be a sticker or writing, but it shows very little wear. There may be only a couple light surface scratches on the grooves, but do not affect the playback with noise or skips. You may only see these scratches if you put them under a bright light and really look for them. The cover might have light creasing or minor seam or corner wear, but still in great condition to show off.

VG to VG-: Very Good to Very Good Minus - May not be that shiny anymore and you will see scratches without putting it under a bright light, but they still would not affect the quality of the playback. The sound quality is still pretty good, maybe a little noise, but not enough to detract from the listening experience. The label might have some fading around it, besides having stickers or writing. The cover may have obvious ringwear in the middle or around the perimeter of where the record was, maybe some side seam splits, or little tears at the top or side where the record goes back into. If less defects, then it's a VG. If it has all this just mentioned, then a VG-.

G, G+: Good or Good Plus - It doesn't mean the vinyl is trashed. It plays though without skipping, but may have heavy noise or fuzz sound because of age, quality, or worn-down grooves. Heavy writing or stickers on the label, ringwear is very obvious on the cover and cover probably has seam splits. But, amazingly, for the vinyl, if you have special audio LP recording software, you could probably clean up those crackles and fuzzes, if you want to create a CD of it for yourself.

P: Poor - This is when the vinyl is warped to the point it warps the playback also. Or it's cracked, but it may or may not still play without a skip. If a picture sleeve is with it, this is torn or marked up bigtime. But someone may want to have it for nostalgia or even attempt to fix it.
