Description
DAVID GARRICK Blow-up live! (PYE stereo NSPL 18223)
Now HERE's a pretty legendary record.
In 1967 cute UK singer David Garrick was quite big shot on the continent, where "Dear Mrs. Applebee" was Top-5 smash in Holland and Germany. According to the sleeve notes a band was quickly assembled for same live dates in Germany. The Blow-Up, where this album was recorded, was in fact a club in Munich. The backing group in question called themselves The Dandy and were in fact the direct predecessor of Apple band The Iveys, who evolved into Badfinger. On this record they are clearly the backing band of David Garrick, nothing more. Songs include "See see rider", "If I were a carpenter" and no less than three Ray Davies/Kinks composiitions.
Besides the appearance of this pré Iveys formation, this album is legendary for another reason.
For a start it was NEVER issued in England. Acoording to rumour it was an export edition only.
Well folks, this album WAS released in Holland, with a 100% English sleeve (printed by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd, with laminated front and the classic flipbacks), but the records you'll find inside are always Made in Holland.
Was there ever a record pressed in England? Who knows, but I doubt it...

On 22-Mar-06 at 21:28:47 GMT, seller added the following information: The above story about certain members of the Iveys/pré Badfinger backing David Garrick here on this album as The Dandy has been going round for many years.
However, I received this message from someone working on the net as pete_tom. I deemed it necessary to print this message for everybody concerned, so make of it what you will:
"It wasn't The Iveys - a rumour started years ago. I wrote book on Badfinger and this rumour was dispelled by group members and the band's manager"
