Description
DAVID LINDLEY's "Mr. Dave", released on WEA INTERNATIONAL (252 161-1) and made in GERMANY in 1985 was never released in the United States. This European copy was distributed throughout Europe and other parts of the world and has always been hard to find in this country. It's the only version I've ever seen, though there was a Japanese CD of this album, also Out-Of-Print (& Pricey), and conceivably a Japanese vinyl version. It's a crime it was wasn't released in the U.S. since in many ways it's his most commercial LP while retaining primarily an electric (& "El-Ray-O X") approach. It was produced by Lindley, GREG LADANYI and DANNY KORTCHMAR, with Korchmar playing on many tracks, along with BILLY PAYNE (of Little Feat) on keyboards, drummer RICK MAROTTA, guitarist SCOTT THURSTON, El-Ray-O Xers JORGE CALDERON and IAN WALLACE, among the players. Songs like "Alien Invasion", "Hands Like A Man", and "Pretty Girls Rule The World" have been part of Lindley's stage show for years, and the studio versions don't disappoint. The front of the cover is autographed with a black sharpie by DAVID LINDLEY as seen in Scan 1. It is also SEALED, which may seem impossible but in fact these being import albums, they weren't in Shrinkwrap originally. U.S. Import companies (Square Deal Record Company it says on Import Pressing Sticker - which were common at for time on imports) frequently loosely shrinkwrap them once they distribute them to U.S.stores. Somewhere between being produced and imported to the U.S., and ending with the distributor shrinkwrapping it, Mr. Dave added his signature. I know it's authentic because I sold my own personally black sharpie autographed copy (and others) on eBay about 2 years ago and it is absolute similar - And was nearly in the same place! At first I thought it was My own copy which I had sold! So on that basis, I vouch for the authenticity of this Autographed LP, as well as having purchased it at a reputable collectors store who advertised it as authentic and new (They didn't shrinkwrap it) and also vouched for it when questioned. It's a Beauty and perhaps his best looking cover ever with NO Defects.
