Over 4 x 12"s, David Mancuso takes you on a journey of the music that moved New York. In the tradition of THE LOFT, you'll find full length versions of classic tunes featuring live instrumentation in all their ruff glory.
Starting off with the stunning 'Girl you need a change of mind from Eddie Kendricks'. In my opinion this whole set is worth the money just for this multi-layered disc/funk masterpiece. Another of my all time favourites - DTrain's Keep on, what can I say except the sky's the limit!! Fred Wesley - House Party one for the old school heads, Sandee - Notice me, a Shoom classic, Barrabas - Woman the earliest balearic bliss. Every track on here is a pure classic, Masters at Work's finest moment in my opinion is represented with the nervous track (try not to nod your head when that snare kicks in!!!) The song which sums up the loft for me on this album has to be Macho City by the Steve Miller Band, who else would have the balls to drop this but Mancuso, but when you find yourself lost in all 16 minutes of twirling synths and guitars you'll see why!!
An absolutely essential compilation for the vinyl enthusiast. Everything here is total classic, and mostly impossible and/or expensive to find on vinyl. Nuphonic did an excellent job, but went belly up shortly after this successful series of Loft classic reissues. Even at £50 and up, this box set is a better bargain than a complete set of original pressings would set you back.
