DAVID TUDOR Rainforest IV Berlin Version 1981 Edition Block German Press GR-EB1


Rainforest IV (Berlin Version 1980) documents David Tudor’s landmark electroacoustic environment, originally conceived in 1973 and realized here with Composers Inside Electronics (CIE). This Edition Block Berlin pressing captures the Berlin presentation of the work, featuring John Driscoll, Philip Edelstein, Ralph Jones, Martin Kalve, David Tudor, and Bill Viola.


Rather than conventional composition, Rainforest IV is an immersive sound installation in which sculptural objects act as resonant speakers, transmitting complex electronic textures into physical space. This Berlin Version pressing is significant as an early European documentation of the project, issued in cooperation with the Berliner Künstlerprogramm des DAAD and Gramavision New York. A foundational document of experimental and electroacoustic music of the late 20th century.


This copy includes the original thick gatefold sleeve with extensive liner notes and photos, and the original plain paper inner sleeve.
