The listener is immediately convinced, from the opening a cappella bits of "Only the Lonely," that no one conveys pain and longing more sublimely or succinctly than Roy Orbison. But his songs are also masterpieces of production: so technically precise that his deceptively simple tunes and lush melodies flow even more smoothly behind his desperate baritone croon and quivering falsetto. This collection captures that astounding fidelity and corrals many of the Orb's most memorable works. The DCC series has been discontinued, as even the most ardent audiophile couldn't distinguish between the sound of its 24-karat gold CD and the standard run-of-the-mill store copy. The hefty price tag naturally contributed to its extinction as well. So hold out for the more economic, standard version. But don't attempt to live without an Orbison collection in your possession; such a life would be as bittersweet and tragic as "Crying" or "In Dreams," but lacking the rewards of listening to one of rock's truly heroic geniuses. ~ Doug Stone

The DCC record label is unfortunately long gone. They produced some of the best sounding audiophile software to ever hit the market, most of which was mastered by Steve Hoffman. This makes all their LPs, Gold CDs and Silver Sided CDs all out of print. The DCC analogue LP/RECORD is brand new, perfect factory sealed, in perfect mint condition, complete and made in JAPAN/USA =  mastered by Steve Hoffman from the original master/session tapes with all vacuum-tube cutting system, the LP has never been opened. The Cover/Booklet includes the complete original artwork, linernotes and Photos from the ORIGINAL-LP.  This LP comes with the original DCC-Poly wrap and is perfect factory sealed in mint condition. The original DCC-Poly wrap has no tears, it is perfect factory sealed.  There are none dents or cracks in the Cover, ..... with little 3inch seamsplit. It is not a cut-out. (No saw marks or drill holes.) It is a completely original Japan/USA-Pressing on the DCC Compact Classics, Inc.
