THE DEAD BOYS - TWISTIN' ON THE DEVILS FORK - THE JEFF MAGNUM TAPES - ORIGINAL USA IMPORT ALBUM - RARE.
The Dead Boys hailed from Cleveland, Ohio, The band was among the first wave of American punk, and were regarded by many who saw them as one of the rowdiest and most violent groups of the era.
They were formed by vocalist Stiv Bators, rhythm guitarist Jimmy Zero, bassist Jeff Magnum, lead guitarist Cheetah Chrome, and drummer Johnny Blitz.
After moving to New York City at the encouragement of Joey Ramone, the Ramones' lead singer, the Dead Boys quickly gained notoriety for their outrageous live performances, Lewd gestures and profanity were the norm and on more than one occasion, lead singer Stiv Bators slashed his stomach with his microphone stand he also encouraged female audience members into performing live sex acts.
Such antics reportedly discouraged the development of a mainstream rock fan following, despite the relative breadth of their material beyond just pure punk.
They frequently played at the punk Mecca CBGB and the band were briefly managed by club owner Hilly Kristal who swore he could see potential for the band despite their distasteful stage antics and eventually in 1977 they released their debut album, Young, Loud and Snotty,
The Dead Boys are captured here at the top of their game, on home turf giving it large at CBGB's - the album draws on original tapes supplied by Dead Boys bassist Jeff Magnum.
This is in great condition throughout and as this came to me within a punk record collection I bought recently, lots more to list in the coming months so keep checking my listings.
An absolute must have Dead Boys album for any serious Punk rock collector.
