Description
This is Dean Martin's masterpiece. Here he sings with a small jazz combo, sort of imitating the approach on the first Julie London record and featuring the same guitarist, the great Barney Kessel, with Red Mitchell on bass. This record really shows what Dino was made of, and it is way more musical, intimate, and, dare I say, serious than his other records. Even people who don't like Dean Martin often make exception for this record, which is really a masterwork of that intimate late-night quiet jazz song style of that time. This is the original 1964 stereo pressing on Reprise RS-6123, and this is a very nice copy indeed. There is a touch of that hazy clouding on the vinyl that sometimes happens when records are stored too long... but it doesn't affect the play much... only a touch of very faint background hiss on side two. Other than that it plays almost perfectly, with all the gentle quietness undisturbed. And the cover is also nearly immaculate, with only the lightest touch of gentle wear at the open edge. This is a top original, just lovely.
