This is a first pressing from the birth of stereophonic recordings having a blue back date coded to September 1958. The first Decca stereo records were launched in August 1958.
The vinyl on side 1 looks excellent apart from a fine hairline which crosses the whole side. This is virtualy silent apart from 7 light clicks in one part and a further 4 later. There is also what looked like a dirty finger mark at the start of the side which I have mostly removed but which still leaves a sort of light rasping click for about the first minute. Apart from these not too intrusive faults the side plays superbly with fantastic clarity.
Side 2 has only a slight blemish from the above mentioned finger mark which causes the same fault only lighter and for a few revolutions only. The rest of the side is superb. Both labels are excellent.
The sleeve has no nasty rips, tears or writing; only light handling wear, rubbing to corners, slight delamination at the opening edge and yawning. There is some residue where tape was applied to the inside opening edges and then removed. Still a presentable sleeve. The thick paper blue FFSS Decca inner is excellent although there is some blue plastic tape applied to the opening edges which has been done well.
To sum up this is one of the earliest Decca stereophonic recordings which still sounds great and will please most collectors apart from the most discerning.
