Description

Very nice copy of the rare Decca UK stereo LP, SXL 2196, Mozart Notturno for Four Orchestras etc., Peter Maag conducting the London Symphony Orchestra. Original wideband, grooved label, with 'Original Recording By...' on label rim, 2E/2E matrix suffixes.

Front-laminated, flipback sleeve has a few light edge creases, a little corner wear and light ringwear, with a little creasing along the top edge at the front and a small 'nick' on the opening edge at the back. Overall, the sleeve is in splendid shape, with lovely colour and glossy laminate; it certainly grades EX. Original poly-lined Decca FFSS inner included.

Vinyl is clean and shiny, and flat, with no warp, a well looked after example, with a few light skating lines on side 1, which do cause some light occasional clicks. Also on side 1, towards the end of band 1, there is a scuff mark which causes repetitive surface noise for around 90 rotations, but audio is still very strong. Side 1 grades VG+. Side 2 has just a couple of light hairlines and overall plays better than side 1. This side grades EX. A little surface noise in quieter parts, to be expected from these vintage pressings, and a few light clicks, but these do not detract from the wonderful stereo sound. Overall, vinyl grades EX minus.
