BRAHMS PIANO CONCERTO No 2 performed by JULIUS KATCHEN
with London Symphony Orchestra conducted by JANOS FERENCSIK
vinyl LP on DECCA SXL 2236 Uk STEREO pressing 1960
I have acquired a large classical collection of wonderful recordings from a very keen and dedicated collector.
They are all mostly from the late 50s to mid 60s - Something of a Golden Age in Classical recording
All records are inspected very carefully and Gradings are based on Record Collector magazine.
I try to only offer recordings in a minimum of excellent Condition unless it is something particularly rare
when I will do my best to describe any visual or audible flaws

4th Movement - Allegretto grazioso
on the DECCA Black and Silver WIDE BAND First Issue with ‘‘ Original recording by‘’ at 11‘O clock text

DISC CONDITION - JUST UNDER EXCELLENT
Side 1 Visually JUST UNDER EXCELLENT with 3 very faint surface marks
and audibly JUST UNDER EXCELLENT with just occasional very soft "tics"
there is 1 light click for 10 revs midway Band 1
and 1 light pop for 1 rev towards the end of band 2
Side 2 Visually Just Under EXCELLENT -with 1 transverse very faint surface mark and one further Surface mark midway 3rd Movement
and audibly EXCELLENT with just occasional very soft” tics “
There are occasional faint crackles in the third movement
which has some very quiet passages
Sleeve EXCELLENT - laminated - front sleeve
with just very light wear on rear sleeve
Comes complete with DECCA company inner sleeve
Brahms 2nd Piano Concerto was first performed in 1882 -unusually having 4 movements -
It is one of Brahm’s best loved works - Here played brilliantly by Julius Katchen
with superb sound quality as you would expect from A DECCA pressing from this era.
You will be pleased to learn there is no reserve and a lowish Starting price
