Rare Decca ED1 pressed reproduction of Beethovens Waldstein and Appasionata Sonatas with Wilhelm Backhaus on Piano.
Condition / Grading
The vinyl has several light marks visible when viewed beneath a strong light source but in normal lighting looks pretty good. Both labels are excellent in appearance, no marks or writing, no scuffs or scratches just a couple of very light spindle marks around the holes. On play (I have played through in full), side one has general light crackling and a number of light to moderate clicks, but there are one or two occasional heavier ones. Side two is much better and plays generally excellently throughout - just some light crackling and the odd light click. I am not sure if any of the surface noise is due to dust in the grooves or the surface marks mentioned earlier? Please note that I have not deep cleaned or treated the vinyl in any way so I would expect if this was done then the sound reproduction could possibly be better than I have stated.
The album cover is only in average shape, the glossy cover has some general wear to the front / corners and has some staining and a small tear at the bottom to the laminate (see picture). The opening is slightly feathered. The rear has some heavy yellow marks caused by previously being taped on the flip backs, top and bottom (see picture) but the sleeve is completely intact.
Original DECCA poly lined inner is in very good condition.
