Another from my personal collection of over 50,000 albums that I have collected over a period of more than 45 years! This is the early 1st UK pressing features No EMI logo on the labels (Only 1st UK Press) What makes this so desirable is that it featues the earliest -1G Matrix Endings and Earliest "1" to "1" Mother Stampers. (Earliest for the best and most vibrant audio found on vinyl) It is noted that this album is listed for its collectability and exceptional audio vibrancy and quality rather than for its condition. (Note: There is some light general wear and tear with age and use only) in my opinion the audio is stunning throughout and this plays with no loud constant clicks or pops and importantly no distortion! Note: Isolated static type ticks/pop were noted on side two heard here and there, but the vibrancy and quality of the audio is truly exceptional in my opinion with no distortion, skips or jumps. Hear for your self in the player below. Actual recording from the vinyl!
The 1ssue E.J.Day & co Gatefold is generally clean with light wear and tear and graded at excellent in my opinion. The record sleeve is an EMI advertizing serpier sleeve with no splits or tears.
Hear the complete album in the player below. (Actual recording from the vinyl)

The Book of Taliesyn is the second studio album by English rock band Deep Purple, recorded only three months after Shades of Deep Purple and released in October 1968, just before their first US tour.
The name for the album was taken from the 14th-century Book of Taliesin.
The structure of the album is similar to that of their debut, with four original songs and three rearranged covers, although the tracks are longer, the arrangements more complex and the sound more polished than on Shades of Deep Purple.
The music style is a mix of psychedelic rock, progressive rock and hard rock, with several inserts of classical music arranged by the band's keyboard player Jon Lord.
Deep Purple's American record label aimed at a hippie audience, which was very influential in the US at the time, but the chart results of album and singles were not as high as expected.
This setback did not hinder the success of the three months long US tour, when the band played in many important venues and festivals and received positive feedback from audience and press. On the contrary, Deep Purple were still an underground band which played in small clubs and colleges in the United Kingdom, largely ignored by media and public.
The British record company EMI released The Book of Taliesyn only in June 1969 on the new underground prog rock sub-label Harvest Records, but the album did not chart.
Even the release of the new single "Emmaretta" and new dates in their home country in the summer of 1969 did not increase the album sales or the popularity of Deep Purple in the UK. Perception of the album changed in modern times, when it received more favourable reviews.
Deep Purple were booked for a long tour in the United States, starting in October 1968, as a result of the unexpected success gathered in the US and Canada by their debut album Shades of Deep Purple, fronted by the hit single "Hush".
The single, released in June, had reached No. 4 in the US Singles Chart and No. 2 in Canada and was the main reason of their sudden popularity overseas.
The situation was quite the opposite at home, where the band had been heavily criticized by media and audience.

The Vinyl
This is the original heavier and deeper grooved type of vinyl. On visual inspection this vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable and retains its original sheen. In strong light there is some surface marks/scratches that can be seen mostly sleeve type removal/scuffs. Importantly no deep scratches that would cause any loud constant clicks or pops but perhapes isolated static type ticks/pop only. There is no signs of groovewear that would cause distortion or signs that this has been overplayed in my opinion.
The Audio Quality
The main reason that I decided to list this album was because the audio is exceptionallly vibrant throughout. Despite isolated static type interference in the form of ticks and the odd pop noted on side 2, this audio is quite exceptional and very rare to find the earliest pressings like this! Normally found in terrible condition and played to death.
The audio is very , very vibrant and enjoyable throughout with exxceptional seperation only found like this on the earliest presswings. I would grade the audio at least Excellent plus to near mint on side 1 and at least excellent to excellent plus on side two in my opiniion.
Please note! I always add this disclaimer! Please allow for the odd isolated static typr crackle /ticks/pop (not consistant throughout the audio) This is a genuine vinyl (not a reissue) that is 50years old and would have originally been played on a 50 year old system! In my opinion this will produce the very top audio throughout!
The labels
These feature the original Harvest labels With NO EMI Logo (only Earliest 1st UK press1st label variation for this pressing) "The Gramophone Co......" rim text (Only 1st UK Press) Spidering can be seen around the spindle hole but little if no spindle wear , the hole is perfectly round. Glue foxing can be seen angled to the light. Common on the earliest pressings only)
The cover
This is the original 1st UK issue ''E.J.Day & Co Ltd'' printed laminated front only Gate fold cover! ( only 1st UK Press) with (no) splits or tares (NO) splits or tares. No real nasty creases to talk of, (no) writing or nasty names! Strong and straight! Note: There is light general wear and tear with age only in the form of slight yellowing/staining at the edges but only noticed if looked for in my opinion. light edge corner wear (Only noticed in looked for in my opinion) Creasing/crushing is noted at the spine but all text is readable. Basically light general wear and tear. I would grade this at excellent in my opinion!
The record sleeve
This is an EMI advertizing serpier sleeve with no splits or tears. Creasings/staining/browning with age only (no) splits or tares and is stored seperately from the vinyl!
