On offer here, from my own collection, is a RARE ORIGINAL UK 1st PRESS of the 1968 album "THE BOOK OF TALIESYN" LP by the legendary British heavy progressive rock band "DEEP PURPLE".
With their second album, "The Book Of Taliesyn" , Deep Purple went on to confirm their adventurous psych-laced heavy prog rock! Clearly, the album is inclined more towards experimentation and this record deserves to be regarded highly by all prog / psych heads. This has to be one of THE most underrated albums of all time. This is a psycheledic-classical-hard rock fusion with heavy emphasis on hammond organ. The opening track "Listen, Learn, Read On" gives indirectly the name of the album by mentionning the Book Of Taliesyn (and the superb artwork sleeve , we are still in 1968 and they dared such a great cover). "Wring That Neck" is another track bound to become a future live favourite (expanded to almost 30 minutes in live concert) and shows the full capacities of this line-up. Other stand out tracks include "Shield" and "Anthem" both late 60s prog rock masterpieces. Brooding atmosphere with hypnotic overtones and Rod Evans' sonically divine vocals. And Deep Purple covering The Beatles "We Can Work It" which see's the fusing of two incredible styles together to form one ultimate track!

On offer here, from my own collection, is an extremely rare original 1968 UK ORIGINAL FIRST PRESSING on the HARVEST RECORDS LABEL of the great 2nd Deep Purple LP titled 'The Book Of Taliesyn'.
This rarely seen original 1968 UK Harvest Records 1st pressing vinyl LP by Deep Purple and titled "The Book Of Taliesyn" is ULTRA RARE , especially in such EXCELLENT CONDITION , original 1968 UK first press HARVEST LABEL vinyl LP with the following three relevent and important label features; (1) 'The Gramophone Co...' , (2) 'Sold In U.K. Subject To...' , plus (3) NO BOX EMI logo (Please See Photos).
ABSOLUTELY THE FIRST ORIGINAL UK VINYL LP STEREO PRESSING (A-1G + B-1G Matrix Stampers) of this GREAT Deep Purple LP. The LP comes housed in it's superb original Ernest J.Day & Co. laminated front & back gatefold cover. The beautiful gatefold sleeve is in EXCELLENT condition, showing only very light signs of age. This is a very rare opportunity to own this ORIGINAL UK 1ST PRESS LP. The vinyl is in excellent condition, still retains it's fully glossy shine and plays with very good sound reproduction, as these legendary early UK Harvest label first pressings tend to do. On playback there is some low level light surface crackle on the run-in grooves, between tracks and in quiter parts. Original UK 1st press copies of this lp rarely turns up for sale these days.
This has to be regarded as a very rare opportunity to obtain a 100% GENUINE ORIGINAL 1st UK PRESSING of this great early DEEP PURPLE LP.

(Thick And Deeper Grooved Original UK Harvest Label 1968 1st Vinyl Pressing. The Record Lies Flat With No Warp And Retains It's Deep Gloss And Lustre. The Vinyl Surfaces Are Very Clean With Only Some Wispy Hairlines And Light Surface Marks Seen Under A Bright Light. The Record Plays Very Well Throughout, Delivering Strong Audio With Powerful Warm Clear Sound. There Is Some Low Level Surface Crackle Noise On The Track Divisions, Lead-in Sections And Quieter Parts. The Album Plays Excellently With Lovely Vibrant Sound.....A Fine Original Pressing)

(Beautiful Full Gloss Outer Laminated Gatefold Sleeve Made By 'Ernest J.Day & Co.' Is In Fabulous Excellent Near Mint Condition, With All The Corners And Edges Really Sharp. The Inside Of The Gatefold Sleeve Features Photos Of All Five Band Members And Is Very Clean. The Spine Is Arrow Straight, Absolutely Superb, The Band Name And Album Title Can Be Clearly Seen. The Front Has Just A Couple Of Very, Very Tiny Laminate Creases (Virtually Unnoticeable) Near The Spine And Top Right Corner. The Back Of The Cover Has A Few Small Age Discoloured Brown Spots Near The Top Edge....Nothing Serious. Overall A Truly EXCELLENT Example of This Rare 43 Year Old Vintage Album Sleeve...Beautiful Full Shine Lamination Gatefold Cover With NO Splits, NO Stickers, NO Writing, NO Tears....The Laminate Has No Serious Crinkling Or Bad Creases. This is one of the RAREST Harvest label LP's - most probably one of the first 500 copies to be pressed - and is an original 1968 UK 'earliest' 1st pressing with NO 'EMI BOX' on the labels (later copies do), earliest 1st press with 'Gramophone Company' label edge text, earliest 1st press 'Sold In U.K. Subject To...' label text, earliest 1st press 1/1 matrixes, earliest 1st press 1 O/1 GD mother & stamper codes, earliest 1st press 'Ernest J. Day & Co.' outer laminated gatefold cover and earliest 'Made In Gt.Britain' white inner sleeve (later copies have the Harvest sleeve) !! MINT (M): The record / cd displays barely any signs of use, if any, with no marks or deterioration in sound quality. Extra items and cover are near perfect.
EXCELLENT (EX): Shows only minor signs of being played with very little lessening in sound quality. Thd Cover and extras will have some light wear and or creasing
VERY GOOD (VG): Has been played many times but has no major deterioration in sound quality, despite some noticeable surface marks and occasional light scratches. Cover and extras will have normal wear and tear but no major defects
GOOD (G): Has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and any extras may suffer from folding, scuffing, split spine, discoloration etc.
FAIR (F): The record is still just playable and has considerable surface noise and may even jump. Cover and contents will be torn stained and/or defaced.
POOR (P): The record will not play properly. Covers badly damaged or partly missing
+ or - : Indicates slightly better (+) or slightly lesser (-) condition than main grade
