Deep Purple : Come Taste The Band A1 / B1
This first pressing plays with stunning quality and with a clarity and depth that is almost 'as new'. There is just one minor click on S1 but in all honesty the vast majority of this record is Mint the sonic quality is that impressive. There are not very many quiet moments but when they do arrive such as on 'You Keep On Moving' the clarity is incredible! This is a fantastic version. The vinyl is also very impressive visually and has no scratches.
The laminated cover has to be the most stunning example I have ever seen and has no obvious wear. The original lyric inner has only a little wear and remains spotless with none of the marking you so often see.
This first pressing has 'EMI Records Ltd...' around the top perimeter edge, the A1U/B1U matrix and KENDUN etc stamped on both run out grooves.

Visual grading
The vinyl is in lovely condition with an superb glossy sheen and there are no scratches. There are a small number of very faint sleeve removal hairlines but as stated below they have no affect on the stunning audio quality. There are a couple of minor scuff hairline areas but they are very minor and again have no impact on the audio. The run out grooves are in perfect condition and the labels are also near perfect with very little spindle wear on S1 and just a little more on S2.
Play grading
The highly charged intro on 'Comin' Home' plays with stunning precision and Coverdale's first vocal is of the same standard with no interference. It continues to play with tremendous power and depth and you can certainly turn this up to max with no fear of distortion! The mid instrumental is superb and to the end it plays without fault. A Mint start to the album.
'Lady Luck' plays to the same 'high end' standard with no sign of any interference. It has a clarity and depth that is synonymous with an un-played record and the only 'background' is a couple of dust ticks on the fade out. It still deserves a Mint grade in my opinion.
'Gettin' Tighter' has one minor static click on the intro and then plays to perfection for the remainder. Near Mint
The intro on 'Dealer' once again shows how carefully this vinyl has been handled down the years. There is no 'background' and the first vocal is equally as impressive with no intrusion. It proceeds in the same way and Bolin's long solo could not play any better. A Mint track if ever there was!
'I Need Love' ends the side with sublime quality - the music is so powerful and has a clarity and depth you don't often find on a final track. There is no inner groove distortion, no interference at all. Even the long fade out plays perfectly! A Mint finish to the side.
----------------------------------------------------------------------- 'Drifter' plays with stunning quality from the first groove to the last with incredible power and depth. Even the 'quieter' section has no 'background' and in essence this could not play any better and Mint is very much deserved.
'Love Child' has only a small number of very quiet static ticks on the intro and then plays with immaculate audio. Great depth and power on this track. Mint-
The quiet piano intro on 'This Time Around' plays very clearly with only minimal static and Hughes' first vocal is flawless. The clarity throughout is very impressive clarity and there is no persistent static at all. A small number of insignificant static ticks but really you could not wish for a better version and for a quieter track the playback is stunning. Near Mint
The segue into 'Owed To 'G' is perfect and it then plays with superb clarity and precision. The sonic quality is 'as new' and only the fade out has a couple of barely audible dust ticks. A superlative Mint version.
The very quiet intro on 'You Keep On Moving' is fantastic! I only detected a handful of barely audible dust ticks but this has to be finest intro I have ever heard here. The opening vocal is just as impressive and thereafter plays with STUNNING clarity and definition. The mid instrumental is faultless and to the end there are no negatives. The final quiet vocal plays beautifully and the powerful end section is phenomenal. The power and depth could not be any stronger and this truly is an exceptional version, perhaps the best I have ever listened to. A classic Mint- track.
In summary this first pressing plays with superb audio with barely any interference. One minor click on S1 that's about it! The clarity, power and definition on both sides is stunning and nowhere is that more in evidence than on the final track 'You Keep On Moving'. It may not be a typical Purple album but there is no denying the sonic quality on offer here and it is practically Mint all the way through!
The Gatefold & Lyric Inner
The laminated cover is in fantastic condition, almost 'as new' in fact! I have never seen a better one and the edges and spine have no rubbing/marking and the corners are also in superb shape with no wear. The opening edge is pristine and the front cover has no marking and needless to say there is no laminate damage. The back cover is just as good and the only 'wear' on both is a kind of very faint crease line running across the centre of both which I imagine was caused during the manufacture. It is only very minor and hardly worth mentioning really. The inside of the gatefold is 'as new' with no marking etc. A stunning example of this cover.
The die-cut lyric inner is super clean with no marking (a rarity!) and has no side splits. The catalogue number is written on S1 and the thumb notch on S2 does have one small piece missing and also a small tear and crease on one of the corners. Only minor imperfections and it is easily the cleanest one I have seen in a long time. No creasing either.
