Deep Purple – Emmaretta 7” (orig. Australia Parlophone MONO A-8754)

Australian Release date: May 1969 (UK Release date: 21 February 1969).  Recording dates: 7 January 1969 (A-side) / 19 August 1968 (B-side).

On offer here is a VERY RARE original Australian issue of “Emmaretta” 7” single by British band DEEP PURPLE.  The instrumental B-side “Wring That Neck” is one of the band’s earliest HEAVY ROCK workouts clocking in at just over 5 minutes.  It features some astonishing axework by RITCHIE BLACKMORE and equally impressive organ heroics from JON LORD.

This 45 was recorded by the earliest DEEP PURPLE line-up that also included IAN PAICE on drums, as well as ROD EVANS (vocals) & NICK SIMPER (bass guitar) who went on to CAPTAIN BEYOND and WARHORSE respectively.
